Did you know that Delta is responsible for paying the replacement value of damaged items up to $3,800?

“Delta’s liability for loss, damage, or delay in the delivery of a passenger’s checked baggage, carry-on baggage, or other personal property tendered to Delta in connection with air transportation on Delta shall be limited to proven damage or loss. Actual value for reimbursement of lost or damaged property shall be determined by the documented original purchase price less any applicable depreciation for prior usage. Under no circumstances shall the liability for loss, damage, or delay in the delivery of baggage exceed $3,800 per fare-paying passenger.”

To make a claim, go to Delta’s website here:

Next, locate “Declaring Baggage Value” and you will see all the details.

The problem is not the term of condition.
The problem is no one is enforcing it, that’s why you see so many people can’t get their refunds or compensation unless you are a influencer or viral on internet.

I had a violin that someone put on top of some other suitcase via Delta...literally crushed my violin. I waited in line and had a "spirited" discussion with someone who represented Delta...they paid for the $600 violin, which the should have. Yes she is right.

the biggest issue with this is that you think people actually speak like that. 9/10 they talk over you constantly or don't listen to what you say and ignore everything.

If only conversations with airline staff went so smoothly! 😢

Delta denied my claim. I had receipts and before and after pictures. They flat out denied it.

I was at customer service, and the lady next to me was trying to get money for a damaged bag. They said no because it "wasn't made in America".... 😂😂🤦‍♀️ I didn't even know that lady but I told off that worker. They were just trying to take advantage of an older lady.

Thought I'd mention that you only have 24 hours to report damage on a domestic flight.

All I have to say is: Good luck. Unless corporate says they'll pay you, you're not getting paid. You have to make a fuss about it, and even if you do get through without social media, they will take their sweet time.

You're sign off about, "that's why I follow her." Is the best, most positive feeling ask I've seen. I instant subbed the first vid I saw, but it feels positive every time. I wish I could subscribe again. Lol

Some say, that cheque never arrived. It’s still being “processed”.

I can't complain really.
The retractable handle on my baggage was broke/stuck down for years. After my last flight though, it started working again.

Extra tip: if possible, when you take the picture of your bag, hold up a newspaper/magazine/document next to the case that shows the date of the day you took the picture. Yes, the date the picture was taken appears in the metadata of it, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra visual confirmation that the picture is actually from right before the flight when you're trying to claim these compensations.

On top of filling out the forms, you’re going to need your *original receipts* for the items as well, which is kinda crazy. Delta literally ran over my bag and refused to reimburse me for my items, so I bugged them every day for about two months until they did. It was a nightmare.
