Personally, taking the time for yourself also let's you take time to break down your own emotions towards the person too. Sometimes you might not think about a person once during your time off from pursuing them and it'll make you realize that you aren't interested in a romantic relationship yourself.

Actually, the way to get out of the friendzone is to ask them out. And if they say no, I only see you as a friend, pull back from the relationship. Not permanently, just until you can move on or like someone else. Or maybe admit defeat and understand that you were never meant to be friends or in a relationship and just cut it off. It's hard. But that's what you gotta do.

Nah my fiancé crawled his way out of the friend zone by always being there for me not matter what. Shortly after I realized he was the one person who was always there for me more than anyone has ever done for me I knew he was the one. It paid off and couldn’t be happier.
