I appreciate how you made it clear that you have to be able to naturally justify the annual fees on the cards in this setup that do have them. Luckily the ones mentioned here are some of the easiest to get positive value from, but it's always important to analyze your lifestyle before getting a card you may end up wasting money on. This was a solid setup here Kevin! Great work on this one.

My current 5 card setup
1. Amex Gold- Groceries & Dining
2. BILT MasterCard- Rent
3. WF Active Cash- Catch All
4. United Explorer card- United flights, vacations/hotels, & for the United Perks
5. Sam’s Club Plus MC- Gas & Sam’s Club purchases
5. Amazon Prime card- Amazon
(The last two cards are interchangeable in my setup) my setup is not a typical chase or Amex setup but works well. Only one I would consider changing is the active cash but not sure what I would replace it with.

My personal 5-card setup (No AF)
1. WF Autograph - food, gas, and Travel
2. WF Active Cash - catch-all
3. WF Visa Signature - 1.5x towards Point Redemptions on Flights
4. Citi Custom Cash- Groceries
5. Amazon Prime - Amazon

I'm considering switching to the Chase Trifecta for the Travel Partners, but I don't know if it makes sense.

It's so crucial to optimize your credit card setup for your spend like this. There's no way someone can just use 1 card for everything.

7:22 Chase Sapphire Preferred currently (as of 5/4/2023) has a 80, 000-point bonus promo running right now, instead of 60, 000 points.

For me the ultimate 5 card setup would be citi heavy: CCC for groceries, R+ for small transactions/10% back citi redemptions, citi premier for purchase protections/TYP transfers/bonus categories, C1 venture x for travel/anything else

What I like about the Bilt card and the Amex gold is the transfers partners. I can transfer to JetBlue or Delta with AMEX gold. I can also transfer to United or American Airlines with the Bilt. I already have the United Explorer card mainly for when the perks when flying with United. The Bilt card compliments the Explorer card nicely. I can transfer those points to United and add them to my existing miles.

My 4, CSR, CFU, Amex Gold, Bilt, thinking about adding Amex Plat or CFF or a Marriot card in the 5th slot

Started off as Team CashBack, but as I made my first travel outside my home state, I'm inching more and more towards team Travel... Currently hold the Costco Visa, Discover and Amex Gold. With the 90k in branch bonus with CSP, it makes me feel more inclined to sign up with their card for an upcoming trip I have, but having a catch all card such as the VX would be nice. Do you have any thoughts on the two for a next card sign up?

I have a genuine question can you look into this.
Wirh the CSR $300 Travel Credit, I know you won't earn points when earning the credit
But what if the flight is like $2000, and its made with one purchase, do you still earn the 3X points on the remaining $1700 money spent on the ticket?

I dont see the appeal in chasing points in 3 different programs

1. Savorone-Food and entertainment
2. Venture X-Catch all
3. Custom Cash-Gas
4. Flex-for 5% if convenient

I don’t really need anything else. If I have to be that nitpicky for an extra $30 a year of value. It’s not worth it. Why would I use a 5% card on groceries, if the 3x of the savorone is valued at almost 5% already.

Chase Quintet: CSP, Freedom Flex, Freedom Unlimited, INK Cash, INK Unlimited. Huge points rake; the whole setup costs me $45 net annually after CSP $50 hotel credit. This is my ultimate 5 card setup. I've also added the BILT card, call it my 6 shooter!

If you have the Chase Trifecta (preferred, unlimited, flex) and the Amex Gold. Would you still get the Venture X?...or is that too many different platforms? If not the Venture X, I was thinking about a hotel card. Either Marriott Boundless or Hilton Surpass. I appreciate any feedback...
