Every Thursday at 8pm EST, I will be live on YouTube grilling claimants with questions for their upcoming ALJ hearing. Just call 407-279-1754 and we will run questions together. First come, first serve, and please remember to use a pseudo name.

Howdy guys, my name is Attorney Walter Rudolph Hnot, III. New Jersey born, MBA, JD, Master Mason and a tireless advocate for the homeless and low income who are seeking disability benefits. It's simple, if you are within the law's requirements for disability benefits, you get a check every month, and health insurance. No, it doesn't include a new iPhone, house or cool car, but, with your SSI/SSDI disability backpay, you can potentially get those things...with your own disability money :-). I created this channel because of how many crazy things I was hearing out in the general public on how this system works. I did library seminars, academia seminars, food truck seminars (which I prefer), etc...The online video platform is the best way to reach the majority of you guys.

This really is dis heartening. After 24 years of service to this country, I've also filed an appeal. I'm going on 3years and still waiting. We paid into a system who stole our money and left us to struggle and suffer.

Valuable explanation, although (speaking for a disabled relative) most of us will never apply the details; still provides a helpful picture of SS's thinking. Unfortunately, SS does not address the difficulty a disabled, unemployed 50-year-old faces trying to obtain any kind of job regardless of skill level. Nobody wants to hire such a person.

The biggest problem with applying for ssdi is the lack of work ethic on the processors side.

As a 100% disbled veteran I was denied SS disability on two seperate occasions. I thought my case was solid and I even had a SS lawyer working on my behalf. I finally opted to take my SS early and gave up a lot of monthly cash benefits but I was not mentally capable of continuing the stressful battle with the SS administration. I feel I should have sucked it up and fought for the benefits I deserved.

I never never ever and I mean never have a employer ever respect restrictions I had .. so even saying someone could do a job description is not valid gauge..

I got my disability after I retired. I retired at 62 because of my health and about 6 months later I told them I wanted to change it to disability. I was prepared to wait them out on appeal since I was getting income from retirement. I was sent to their doctor and several months later I was approved

I recently got approved for SSDI. I was in construction for 38 years. Took almost a year from the time I filed until I got the letter from SS. It is a mental grind, longest year ever! I had a great lawyer who answered every question and explained everything along the way. I'm in Chicago, if anyone would like his name please let me know.

I've been working at disability for almost 3 years. I've had one hearing over my computer. I have also appealed that one. Some things I found out that you don't say in a hearing. Because they're going to mail you a sheet back with the denial letter saying everything that you can do but I won't say nothing about what you couldn't do. They said things like he can take care of a couple cats. And I don't know where they got that because I only have one cat. They say that he's able to get to the store to get food for himself and what I told them is yes I go to the grocery store once a month but I have use a walker. So anyway to make a long story short don't tell them that you go to the grocery store you have all your food delivered home. Don't tell them if you have any pets make sure that they know that you have have handicap equipment in the house and handicap scooters and handicap railings in the house. Just try to stay as far away as anything you can when they ask you on things you can do be prepared period they also use medical records against you if you go in just for a basic physical make sure you tell the doctor that's giving your physical about your pain issue problems. Even though that's not what you you're in there for cuz you're just in there for a physical

Good info. I was approved the week of my 60th birthday, but they also backdated my Established Onset Date to the day after my last day at work, when I was 55. This was after initial denial at age 59.5 and I won at reconsideration.

If you knew the mind blowing number of people who apply for disability every day then you'd know why it's so hard to get approved. First of all, it helps to actually be disabled not just tired of working and want to get "your" disability. I see a lot of people who's spouses have retired now they want to retire too and travel with their spouse so since they have diabetes or a sore knee then they figure they'll just get their disability and be free to travel as well. It also helps to take down all your facebook pictures of you doing all kinds of activities all the while claiming to disability you can't get out of bed because your whatever hurts so bad.

Walter, you do such a great, detailed job of delineating all the criteria applicable here. My face is blank and mind is numb just feeling like I need a PhD to even understand the standards they set for the disabled.

I 've been watching your videos every day for a month or so now. Ever since I was lucky enough to come across them in the 'suggested' videos on the opening page. I have learned quite a bit thus far. Some of the information you provide is quite alarming and upsetting. Mostly, because I had no idea the SSA could be so ruthless. Other information you have provided has also given me some hope. I can tell you most sincerely...I am gaining more and more confidence in myself, due to a better understanding of the processes involved. Also, how you take the time to break everything down, going step by step. I'm expecting an initial denial. But I feel more empowered, better equipped if you will, and a little less fearful. Thank you so much for educating the rest of us. I'm very thankful that I came across your channel. You Sir, are a Godsend. Thank you for posting your videos.

If you are truly unable to work hire a proven attorney specializing in ssdi and you'll be approved first attempt. They will take fees when you're approved so no money up front. Imo a responsible attorney would never take your case unless they think you'll be approved and it makes no sense to attempt filing yourself. If you're represented by a successful ssdi attorney they do ALL the work, obtaining medical records, scheduling their Drs to evaluate you if necessary basically only requiring you to sign some forms. There is a good chance you'll never even need to leave your house and only sign forms electronically. IT TAKES LITTERALLY NO EFFORT OR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED ON THE CLAIMEE'S PART FOR APPROVAL. Although lots of good accurate info here you don't need any of that information with an attorney representing you.

I was involved in a severe auto accident, and I broke my neck. I had to get a lawyer to appeal four or five times, then went to court where the judge could see how bad i was. I had graduated school and was trained to manage communication contractors, plus, plus. I was making very good money when I was disabled and had disability insurance. When asked why we had to go through all the B.S., get an attorney, and go to court, they told us that's how they weed out the people who are not truly disabled.
This caused the government to have to pay all my legal fees plus. THIS IS A WASTE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS !
SO IF YOU DO EVERYTHING CORRECTLY AND NEED THE HELP YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT.
