“I’m not pulling very hard”

*hand proceeds to shake violently*

You are supposed to twist it to break the pincer grip. You can see the head left behind.

Twist 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull straight out. You can also suffocate it with oil and it will let go on its own. You left the head in the skin, could cause infection.

In Brazil we soak a small ball of cotton with alcohol and drop some on top of the ticks and they fall off immediately....

I live on a farm in a very rural area. We've got two dogs and three cats. Once winter ends, ticks become an almost daily occurrence. To remove them, we use a plastic tick spoon to get them off and ensure we get the whole thing. It's super simple. This woman makes tick removal seem far more complicated than it needs to be.

Went for a walk behind my house, down a path through the woods, with my dog. Found ticks on myself, so, I decided to check my dog. Found more than 150 ticks, and stopped counting @ 150. It took two days of removing the ticks to get them all off my poor friend.

Use finger nail polish, the tick breathes through its body. It will back out with it's head attached.

I’d use rubbing alcohol, not hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is an irritant and shouldn’t be used on any animals skin including ours as it can even cause chemical burns in some cases. Alcohol is what we use for minor wounds at the vet clinic I work at.

It looks like the head was left behind but hard to tell bc camera was so fast—that was also an awfully fast pop for “not a lot of pressure”

Antibiotic ointment over the counter. Put on tick it will let go and ointment helps with the bite. 😊

On the farm back in the day we used to use a lit cigarette to burn ticks off which caused tick to remove its pincers & drop off, worked a treat.

It's easier to warm up a pair of tweezers, the warmth of the tweezers on the tick will cause the tick to start backing out that way the head is not left behind

Remember knowing types of ticks being attached to human skin is a must never leave a tick head under skin. If you do wrong you can poison yourself. This information is on internet about the breed of tick you have and serious bad that can result in by not removing correctly.

I use Finnish tar shampoo when I shower, I don't get bugs or flies on me. also use tar shampoo for the dog, it is important to shampoo extra around the dog's head.

Pulling it off slowely like that can cause the tick to release everything it has like blood back into the body. This includes paracites. Always grab it by its head and pluck it quickly

"And Not Twisting!"
Everyone in the comments: Twist!

All my life everyone ( also family and doctors) told me do not pull them, but to roll to any side. If it be pulled, the head may stay under the skin

Loves these, the comments have so many "expert" tick pullers that often disagree with one another. I don't know the right way, I just pull them off with my fingers, look to see that I got the head and burn the tick. Many tick pulls later I have not ran into a problem with not getting the head to come with. Guess I'd search for what's next when the ticks head broke off in mine or my pets skin 🤔
