NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said the agency will show the deepest picture of our Universe on July 12 courtesy to the James Webb Space Telescope. Nelson said this at a news conference at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. This is where the $10 billion observatory is run. It was launched in December of last year and is now 1.5 million kilometers from Earth and orbiting the sun.
Webb's huge main mirror and infrared sensors let it to see through dust and gas, making it an engineering marvel. Webb's infrared capabilities let it view 13.8 billion years back to the Big Bang. Because the Universe is expanding, light from the oldest stars moves from ultraviolet and visible to infrared wavelengths, which Webb can detect with remarkable detail.
