NASA revealed the first five full-color images and spectrographic data from the world's most powerful space telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership with ESA (European Space Agency), and CSA (Canadian Space Agency). The world got its first look at the full capabilities of the mission at a live event streamed from the agency's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, on July 12, 2022.

The event showcased these targets:
- Carina Nebula: A landscape speckled with glittering stars and cosmic cliffs
- Stephan’s Quintet: An enormous mosaic with a visual grouping of five galaxies
- Southern Ring Nebula: A nebula with rings of gas and dust for thousands of years in all directions
- WASP 96-b: A distinct signature of water in the atmosphere of an exoplanet orbiting a distant Sun-like star
- SMACS 0723: The deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date

My father was less than a year old when Armstrong first set foot on the moon, now I am almost 15, and witnessing us human beings looking further into this vast, endless space we live in.

I remember falling in love with space when my 5th grade science teacher came back from her tour of NASA in Houston…back in 2002, she was telling us of all the future projects that would take decades to complete. Here we are in 2023, and just looking back at everything that we’ve discovered and accomplished since 2002 amazes me! ❤

I feel this is the first time I feel a sense of being a part of this world's science community. I learnt about the James Webb telescope last year before it was launched. Learnt about it;s amazing engineering and was excited about it. But I wasn't expecting the results so fast. And as the images are released, I feel so excited seeing them. seeing the science community celebrate makes me feel like I am a part of this journey. Most people still have no idea what these pictures are all about and why it's so important. Thankyou NASA (CSA and ESA too) for this work. Even though I'm not American, I feel proud of what NASA has achieved, It's a achievement for all of humanity. And I am so thankful to internet for giving me access to the world which I could have explored otherwise only in my imagination. Oh I'm so overwhelmed😶. Science is my first and last love, and If you call me a nerd for saying that, I will thank you.

We've entered a new era of space exploration. I'm jealous of the future generations that will have the privilege of traveling among the stars.

since I was 8 years old I have been amazed by space, its mysteries, its beauty, its dangers. Now I am 13 years old and space is more beautiful than ever, seeing space, satellites, space rockets, the planets is just one feeling that cannot be described.
