Awakening | Time, Thought, and Equanimity (Part 1)

What does it feel like to be fully present? Is time real or is it illusory? Have you ever been out of the now? How does peace relate to timeless presence? How does one investigate in direct experience, the illusory nature of time? In the first of three videos in this series we delve into the difference between being present as a practice, and realizing that there is literally no way to experience anything other than eternity.

"Your resistance to what is now is your entry point to equanimity" This is pure gold!

This makes for a fascinating inquiry. It is clearly seen that past and future events can only be accessed in the world of thought (right now) and direct experience only happens right here. The mind seems comfortable with this. However, when you say “the past doesn’t exist” so plainly - the mind gasps and the body tenses in seeming disbelief. Now we are getting somewhere 😂
Thank you, Angelo

These moments of mirth that burst out sometimes like 3:30 are so infectious and reassuring. Love it.

J. Krishnamurti talked that time is the distance between action and thought. Sounds obscure and mysterious, but when this insight hits, it becomes obvious.
Thanks for your contribution and work.

My smile got bigger and bigger while listening to this video!
It is special and very valuable with how much precision you put everything into words, so that people who listen can tune in as precisely as possible.

It is really beautiful!

Thank you very much for sharing ♡

Thanks for all your work, Angelo. This style of video feels particularly helpful as a self-contained teaching that drives home the core of reality in simple and experiential terms. Our momentum of thought has an admirably tenacious way of flatlining the obvious. Thankfully you’re holding a defibrillator. ⚡️

Awesome, Angelo. 💛 Thanks 🙏 A very 'timely ' pointing today for me, personally. I had never thought about the nature of time until a few decades ago - I woke up to a day of being aware of the near future at the same time as the present moment. The ego didn't seem to mind. Equanimity was easy that day, too. It was only one day but I learned something, I guess. 🤷‍♀The ego does ordinarily fight remaining in the present moment, darn it! It seems to love to worry about the future because it wants to take its bearings from the past. Trying to control what is not controllable, I guess. Trying to avoid pain and sorrow with a hop, skip and jump game of thoughts..Perceiving reality through a lens of mistrust and fear...

Brilliant video Angelo. Your talk gave me direct access experientially to what you were taking about. I am very grateful that you are fully utilising your prodigious gift to facilitate awakening. A big thank you.

I am definitely in that “strange phase” right now. much repressed material. But today I got that I can just let any thought exist and still be present in the moment. It’s like allowing sounds to exist and still being present. I feel like that was a really big shift for me. To see that thoughts and presence can occupy the same space. I keep trying to share my experiences with my partner and he is being so sweet. But I can tell he is just humoring me and doesn’t have a clue what I am saying. I would love to talk to someone who “gets this” phase. I definitely feel a bit discombobulated.

They got your name right! Your pointings are like a message from beyond 3D experience of reality. After. massive unasked for awakening experience around 1997 after which seeking began and A Course in Miracles came into my hands to start the enormous job of deconstructing the ego thought patterns😭. Listening to your interviews has put everything into perspective and I finally can surrender into the openness of being. You have road mapped my journey so precisely by openly expressing yours I am dropping into knowing. Bless you for your powerful generous being. In eternal gratitude for your part in my release from the prison of thoughts. Not fully there yet but know it is happening. 🙏💕Linda UK. Shine on your truth xx

5:43 'and sometimes it can seem so obscured we just can't figure out where it went'...yep I resonate with this. I've been going through this, to gether with bouts of a lack of motivation with my work/general existance.

Many years ago, for about a week, I found that when meditating I could somehow melt thoughts away even before they were fully formed. I never knew exactly how I did it though and have not been able to do it since. Following along with this video, when I lean in and examine a thought as an object instead of participating in it's content...POOF! Gone. Even some of the really sticky ones, the kind that usually suck me in for a long ride, just breakdown and disappear. More practice....

You make me laugh... This is one reason why I like your videos. You're someone I can relate to. You seem like a normal guy if I saw you on the street or in a coffee shop say (except that you're an anesthesiologist, which to me is exceptional).

Thanks Angelo! This will be a very interesting series 😀👌and the way it's being unfurled is gentle, clear and mind-blowing 🤯💥❤️ There's so much to play with here - but I like the suggestion of slowing down a single thought one at a time and noticing what next...? Time is very fluid and subjective in the external and thoughts cascading create a speeding up process of getting lost internally within their sway/pull... Slow it down to be present to now, the timeless eternal stillness 😊
