Ellaria Sand and the King Doran were completely out of their deph. Myrcella was worth more to Dorne alive than dead. It was leverage over the Lannisters. King Doran should have never agreed to send her back to Kings Landing until the marriage was finalised with the Prince of Dorne, and Ellaria should never have plotted to kill her or the Prince! Had she been kept alive and in Dorne, after Tommen's death..a Dorne Prince would have ended up marrying the rightful heir to the Throne!!
Oberyn would have never contemplated killing Myrcella had he been alive! And probably would have convinced the king to keep her in Dorne until the marriage was finalised!
