Trudeau announces CERB payments to be extended for 2 more months

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that the Canada emergency response benefit will be extended for eight weeks for those who still can't work as provinces and territories gradually reopen their economies.

Everyday my co-workers across Canada and I talk about how much we want to get back to our work However the Canadian factory remains idle as we wait until our customers allow contractors back on their workplace. I'm one of the guys that Justin describes as wanting and waiting to get back. The CERB has been a life saver for each of us. Otherwise been happy to pay my share for 25 working years. 🇨🇦

why would they get rid of mandatory minimum sentences? that makes no sense, dont do the crime if you cant do the time.

Why isn’t the government giving monthly assistance to seniors..? We’ve being given a one time $500. payment that’s held off until July. Seniors who don’t have savings, medical conditions, rise in food cost, and medicines etc. It’s needed as many seniors are living below the poverty line and every little bit could help.

I got laid off from my job that I had for 10 years due to Covid-19. I made over 75k per year and now I get 2k a month thanks to the CERB. No job prospects and was very scared for myself and family who rely on me as the primary provider. Would have lost everything. Thank you for extending.

Some people here need to be aware this was intended as a temporary relief. Not to maintain or improve your quality of lifestyle. A whole lot of deadbeats on here more concerned with getting ahead on the backs of others, opposed to strapping on their work boots and getting back at it. There shouldnt be a single comment on here about how you feel you shouldnt work because you make more on CERB. Have some respect for the process and intentions of the relief progran.

I never took the money and dont plan on it, I havent lost my jobs, its all fun and games now i've seen ppl buying big screen tv's, e bikes ppl acting like they won the lotto, the money should be used for paying rent and buying food stuff like that, the government will get the last laugh when its times to pay all that money back!

I think the job bank and job search centres are now located at city parks and beaches, judging from the amount of people down there searching for work during week days.
