Well, it’s been 2 years since I took my first step in Product UX/UI Design by taking Mike’s course & I’ve finally landed my first Product Design role at a company. A big thank you to Mike, his content is really valuable.

I spent 2 months learning UI/UX by self practicing and did build a portfolio in 10 days and started applying for jobs. Luckily I got selected for a decent paying UI/UX internship for 2 months and after that I joined another company as full time Visual designer , but I quit it after 1 month after getting first month salary, as I started to feel like I lack the some of the skills, which I should have learnt and practiced, but when doing the assigned job there is no time for improving and building skills on the go and you will end up feeling like messing crucial things at job and may feel unhappy. Now I am learning newer things everday and practicing and I am sure that by god's grace it will help me landing a happier job doing thing that makes me happy

I completely agree with you. It takes time to learn, you don’t want to rush it. I study everyday. The more I study the better I get. I’m a year into web design w/ graphic design skills so that helps me out. In this field you’ll be constantly learning so it’s important to spend a little time each day to study.

I switched from developing to ui ux, landed a job and it has been 6 months. I have done a pretty good job with UI but in terms of UX i still struggle. Also i have seen less tutorial and content on YouTube for teaching ui ux rather than web development and programming.

Thank God you said if you have design skills your time is cut shorter to learn. I can do 6-12 months to build my portfolio and make sure it’s good and Make sure o have a great grasp on how UX works.

I am an interior designer and proficient in adobe creative suite, advanced in sketching and drawing and I am wondering how easy or hard it will be for me to transition into UIUX. Hopefully sooner than the 2 years. I plan to learn this while on my current full time design job.

hi Mike

When you say about building strong portofolios for UI/UX design, you talking about building the whole website or just the design of the end product and the process of building that design product.

How much time should I spend learning UX/UI everyday to be ready in 2 years of time?

I'm assuming the 2 years timeline is based on the 2 hours a night suggestion, not 2 years full time. Would that be correct, Mike?
I have the capacity right now to quit my job for a few months in order to study UX full time, but I'm trying to work out whether it would be worth it i.e. will I get a job in the field at the end (currently working in Customer Support and am familiar with some basic design principles).

This is funny. I watch your Lakers videos. But I got here by looking at UX/UI !

Do you honestly think that someone who has no design experience or knowledge at all would be able to succeed in your courses ?

How do you feel about the immersive courses via a bootcamp through say Galvanize or General Assembly? I was apart of a cohort that ended about two months ago (Denver, CO) for a 10 week course and seems like we're all getting jobs in the field as either juniors or regular UX Designers.

Hi Mike! I have been watching your videos. 1. Are you saying 2 years with 1 hour of work every day?
Although I have completed one semester of college for transfer to Electrical Engineering and Computer Science bachelor's degree at UC Berkeley. But now I'm planning not to take courses this spring semester because I want to follow the path you're suggesting, "Self learning and no degree needed" If I invested 4 to 5 hours A-day, how long will it take me before I'm ready for market?
2. What do you think of Lambda School that conditions their payment with student getting a job first? They will complete it in 9 months total. I have been thinking about that as well. Need your advice.
3. Watched many of your videos about UX/UI Design. I'm kinda confused if UX/UI is any different than the Graphic design because you kinda mention the aesthetics and, photoshop and visual a lot. Before, I thought UX/UI was only focused on the idea and blueprints of the UI and visual of product, not the sketching and coloring the actual product, that would be done by graphic designer. Then you have that Career Advice video on whether to become a UX/UI designer or Front end Developer. If UI/X Designer is Visuals, Aesthetics and photoshop, that means its Front end by itself, then what do you mean by "UX/UI" or "front End Developer"? Can you make it a little more clear for me pls. I kinda mix all UX, UI, and Graphic Design/front end Developer?
I am waiting for your kind reply.

Yeah not buying this. 2 years? That sounds absurd. Best to learn on the job.
