I'll assert that the solution isn't to try to use effort to change one's proclivities, but to transcend the personality to learn that we aren't the personality, but the consciousness that animates it. We are expressed through our personalities, and we can modify them, but we need to stop identifying with them as who we truly are. Consciousness is fundamental, personality is emergent. We should identify with the fundamental over the emergent. Then we can truly evolve.

What a relief to know I may not be stuck with the worst parts of my personality :)

I’m conscientious and high in openness but less in orderliness. It swings. My brain becomes a storm in one aspect of time and then my conscientiousness kicks in and ask me to be dutiful and then the creative storms kicks in again. Swinging back and forth.

Truthfully speaking, it is right that orderliness and openness don’t coexists properly. However, when someone is open and orderly, that means someone is temporarily open and then temporarily orderly.

Yea I’m conscientiousness and open. And these two dimensions always conflicts. I can’t stop working but I can’t stand the same as well. So that drives me to accomplish new things. So if the thing is extremely different I become industrious but if it’s the same I become uninterested

I really appreciate JP, but unfortunately, he's spent his career studying and teaching a population of incredibly primitive people. I wish he'd have had the chance to work with a society of truly enlightened people (doesn't exist on this planet). That would have given him a picture of what a human can be, rather than what humans are like currently. Of course, understanding what humans are like currently is of great value, but it's also greatly important to know what people can become.

Like... could Jordan Peterson change his personality from a drug addict and serial liar to an actual conservative? Interesting question.
