I’ve had an honest competent shop for about 20 years. I also visit the dealer for some services. Both are fair and reliable. I was badly ripped off at a new car dealer for unneeded brake work in the late 80s. I remember that experience to this day.

Another super upload from Super Lauren! Solid advice. As GM and then CFO of one of the largest dealership networks in the USA and Canada at one time. The techs were all masters in order to work for us.
But they were instructed to FIND issues and convince the service UP that if the repairs were not made, it would lead to major damage soon. Most service UPS went and paid the additional cost for a repair/repairs that were not always expedient to have done.
My Advice to YOU, the viewers is simply to LISTEN to Lauren amd save money now. Or deal with someone like ME later. I'm no longer in the car biz because I have to live with myself. And ripping people off is not a Christian way to act.
However, there are still a couple of million of the dirty types of shady techs and greedy dealerships out there. Heed Lauren's advice and save your money. And if you DON'T, you will eventually remember that BOB told you so.

12-Volt Batteries in Some 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-Es Are Dying, Leaving Owners Stranded

Ford said in a service bulletin that as a result of a software glitch, the 12-volt batteries in some Mach-Es are dying while the vehicle is being charged.

Got this from CAR AND DRIVER (aka, Horse and Jockey) just now, Lauren. This will continue to be an issue with EVs.

And GO for the test drive with your tech. You drive first. And don't be afraid to ask 100 questions if you have to. You don't want to rely on a silk tongue SAE Master Tech who will rob you. Do your research online. But car advise is just that, and can be confusing. So have a friend help you. A friend like Lauren. And get another opinion from a second SAE MASTER Tech. But don't get confused amd be SURE that they are a reputable dealer/tech. And not just another "Mike the Mechanic.
