It really works this way, believe me. I did it. It took me 15 years from the moment I had realized what I really wanted to do in life. I was 31 at that time with two little sons, a husband and a part time job that was exhausting. I had to change my qualifications (three years of study), change my work, get a lot of experience. Finally, I teach English in my little home town in Poland. I've got a lot of self-made flashcards and grammar cards, second hand desks and chairs for my students and I'm happy. It wasn't easy, but it was worth doing it.
A year ago I read a book about Ikigai and I thought I was on a right path. Now, even my two grown up sons are looking at me in a different way! Good luck everybody! Be strong! Don't give up! Renata

I enjoying gardening. I enjoying being alone, drinking coffee in the morning, walking along the edge of the bay at sunrise. I enjoy being quiet. I enjoy living simply. I enjoy taking care of my body without obsessing about it. I enjoy sleeping. I appreciate my life and all the lives that weave with mine. I bow to all living things, and everything is living.

No one seems to want to give me money for doing the things that I enjoy, that fulfill me. I do enjoying having money. Money is useful, but for me, doing what fulfills me doesn't create income.

Who said we have to be married to be fulfilled? I have been happily divorced for 33 years.

This is one of the best motivational videos I've seen so far. Most videos trigger stress in me and the sense of not being worthy. This one actually encourages me to just proceed the things i'm doing allready, and be patien with it. Thank you!

I was a hardworking person who had huge always tried sooo hard to gain things I wanted. I never liked when others are doing what a Wanted....I think I was burning with jealousy & it gradually was craving a lot...I punished myself for being weak...making mistakes I was running towards a mirage & finally messed up my exam as well. I trusted and liked people admired was addicted to admiration. It was miserable when others did not appreciate me for what I did....Rather than doing my work I was seeking admiration....I was dreaming about how I will act when I get something .Unknowingly I was destroying myself bit by bit. I think I was was angry with everyone including myself. I was blaming me and others . I gave up everything almost everything. I felt dead inside. My dream was to become a Neurosurgeon. I felt like I just showed off in Everything I did . I felt like I was maintaining a fake image all the times. I was feeling miserable. Racing thoughts was the worst. I could not focus .I finally decided to take a break.
1.I wrote everything down when I felt low.
2.I wrote all the stuff in negative form.
3.For about month I was writing things when I felt jealous, angry & depressed.
4.I slept a lot.
5.Watched videos to heal myself. Commenting was also a great therapy.
6.I tried doing different cartoons, cooking etc.
7.I tried meditation.
8.I stopped whenever I go to future or past my brain warns me now. I also say to myself "it Is FAKE" when I imagine things and act like that .
9.I stopped working to schedules.
10.Watched few Christmas movies.
Now i am feeling better....better than am my Boss now. Now I donot seek for opinions. Slowly reach to small goals
I climbed up from the ANYONE can do that
Thanks a lot for Ikagai It was the blinker that I was doing the right thing.

Just discovered Ikigai yesterday (about 60 years late). What a revelation. This should be taught to young people; it's as important or more than ordinary classwork. Thank you Seiiti Arata.

I thought I wanna be a doctor just like how my mother and sister are in the medical field, they are now abroad. When I look into my strengths and weaknesses, they are all point out how I look perfectly fit being a teacher for little children and I love children all of my life. I wanna be a teacher and I promise not to leave my children left all alone on their own, I wanna see them grow and be with them through their ups and downs in life until they are ready to fly. I wanna build a happy, healthy and loving home 💛

I believe the difficulty in understanding our ikigai sometimes is because we expect it to be something that looks BIG for others, but like Ken Mogi says in his amazing book, your ikigai might be holding your grandkid in your arms. I guess it what fulfils your soul...wonderful video thanks ❤❤

I live in Tokyo : Did everything I ever wanted to do .... wake up, intrinsically think how you say - ikigai - and then I go to work and all the values you say are turned upside down by my colleagues who are very very hai puraido old school Japanese people but, I will keep on trying !! Thank You for your strong message !

It seems the 5 steps are the 5 pillars of Ikigai that Ken Mogi described. He said that Kogi-sensei is a neuroscientist, but I think he’s not. He’s specialized in the mind and brain relation, works for Sony CSL & Tokyo Tech, but he never studied neuroscience, but science and law in Tokyo University. Anyway, I’m happy to hear more Japanese people talking about this concept because I feel there are some misconceptions about the ikigai in the west 👍👍

The Four Points of Purpose of the IKIGAI:

1) What you love to do 💖
2) What the world needs 🌎
3) What you’re actually good at 💪
4) What you can get paid for 💰

Great video and good points on the importance of finding and living out your Ikigai. :)
