Follow-up & Backgrounder are important components of a News. A News Reporter always follows all the updates of already published News Stories and keeps his/her readers/viewers well informed. This is known as follow-up. In Backgrounder, main information or description of events leading to the latest news are given to rewind the background of the story. Generally, the backgrounder is used along with the main item of an important happening. In this video, these two terms of News Reporting are being explained in a simplified manner.
