I think the intended way to solve it is to actually do the question by factoring/completing the square/formula but you can also use vistas formulas which give yo7 the sum of the roots of any polynomial as the second coefficient, b, divided by the coefficient of the first term, a, times -1 giving sum(ri)=-b/a. Plugging this into the equation gives us that the sun of the roots is 7/4, through this, we can guesstimate 9/4

It's actually a lot easier to just put the values in and do mental maths took me less than minute to solve.

Theres another method. Take A (7/4). Replace "x" with it. We get: - 4 * 49/16 - 7 * 7/4 = - 36. Calculate until only numbers left in both sides. We get: 0 = - 36. Its wrong. Repeat for b, c, d until meet a right equation. In this question it happens with b (9/4) . Answer is b.

When bro realizes if you take the minus common and cancel it out you get 4x² + 7x = 36, then 4x² + 7x - 36 = 0, then it's a quadratic equation with a = 4 b = 7 and c = -36

We can do this easily by middle term splitting, no need of quad. formula

When kids don’t learn basic math, the natural response is obviously to lower the bar to unrecognizable states rather than helping them… learn… how to do the math.
