When it finally clicks, when everything around you makes sense. When you finally solve that difficult problem. This satisfaction and wonder is the main motivation in my opinion.

The Epp book was one of the books we used when I took Discrete along with Ken Rosen book and it's easy to read like The Sorcerer said with many proofs examples and problems. Good luck Bakri.

I’m a third year UCLA student majoring in physics minor mathematics. I feel learning upper division math is way more hard than learning physics.

These videos are awesome. I’ve been watching for about half a year and I can’t explain exactly what it is, but they are very inspiring

Got to say at my level finding manipulation of numbers just incredible (basics) literally in awe how what looks to be a right hard sum can become easy with proper technique

I am so glad I found this channel. Your advice has been top-notch and you've provided tons of great math content. I'm 31 and recently started college 3 years ago and almost finished with a BS in math with plans for grad school. The only repeatedly daunting anxiety I get sometimes is whether or not I will be able to "catch up." It's well-spoken throughout the mathematics community that it's a young man's game, and perhaps this is mostly referring to high-level research, but I find myself starting routes down major fields (currently Analysis and Abstract Algebra) and feel like the pace required for me in no way allows me enough time to master these subjects within a reasonable timeline. Granted, the last 12 years since high school weren't completely lost, I have always been passionate about mathematics and did a decent amount of self-study just as a hobby during that time, so it's not like I'm starting from zero, but I think I have become much more confident that what I truly love about mathematics is just *learning it*! What advice would you have as far as career paths? I don't really have too much of an interest in an application of mathematics (though I do love physics and computer science). But I honestly want to just keep learning math and never stop. I assume the only viable option for this is Ph.D level and even post-doc research, both of which would likely require teaching as well. I am somewhat doubtful that I can fare that well with the high levels of competition in this field to pursue this and I would like to know your thoughts on perhaps some avenues maybe many people aren't aware of, or at least what possible paths would be related. Most people learn math in order to USE it, but I just want to keep LEARNING it! Is that impractical?

I know it's a ton of work, since I wrote 2 books already, not on math, but you should write a Perfect Math book, since as you said there isn't one. I had some ideas, but essentially, find the common flaws of every general math book (such as never having any of the answers in the back worked out, and just having the odd numbers, etc.) and write one that doesn't do any of those things. The subject could be whatever one you're best at, Cal2, Real Analysis, etc.

I’m reading elementary combinatorial analysis by Eisen. It’s a good book for students without a strong background in calculus. The book is still able to present and cover difficult and thought provoking topics. It’s quite short.

Hi MS,

Do you think you could do a video reviewing the best books to learn statistics and probability? Maybe some book reviews on the topic and what are the best introductory texts to stats? It seems like these are less covered than stuff like calculus. Thank you for all the great content 👌👌
