Everyone thought Ukraine would indeed fall in days.
*So. I am not calling this over until it's over.*

General Sir Richard Barrons, I'm coming in at 1:53 into this vocast. You have just said you give Mariupol a few days or at most a week or two before it falls. With respect, General (ret.) David Patreus recently called Mariupol 'The Alamo' of the Ukraine. I am an artist living 2, 000 kilometers from Kiev and I have no military experience whatsoever, but I do know that Mariupol must not fall. This is where we must ask General Sir Richard Barrons to come up with the strategy to save what I believe is the keystone city in the Ukraine. We simply must not allow the Russians to make their land bridge corridor from Crimea to the Donbas. If they are kicked lock, stock and barrell out of the Ukraine it will snowball into Putin's worldThe question is now: how do we do it? The Ukrainians are willing to fight; they say they need more kit; we've got to get them the kit and excuse me for being obstinate, but I think it's time to discard the NATO shield excuse everyone is using for not upping the ante and giving the Ukrainians what they need to won. This is about our children's children's security.

The US and UK need to give Ukraine everything they want.

What a defeatist attitude. A counsel of despair. I'm glad he's an ex-general.

Basing strategy on "what Putin's thinking" is like planning for defeat

Strategy? Just good old Russian style, throwing human waves and random missile barrages, in hopes that those young conscripts soak-in as many bullets as possible before expiring.

It should be as simple as giving them what (and who) they need and just don’t mention it anywhere

Ps main strategy is redefine words to mean something other than they really do mean.

Somewhat complacent, because if we fast forward to the eventuality that Putin appears to win (even if not fully) and there is despondency in Eastern European democracies that NATO did not plan ahead for the stage 2 support Ukraine needed, we are left with the wrong signals and messages to despots.
