I didn’t realise that you can liberate a place by just bombing the hell out of it

Their strategy certainly doesn't involve logistics.

Proof Mike Tyson is a military genius. “Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the face.”

Remember how Putin insisted, before the war, that he had no plans to invade Ukraine? Maybe he wasn’t lying after all: maybe he really didn’t have any plan. Just point his troops at the border, tell them “go on, then” and hope for the best.

I recognize this strategy! Attack a target you perceive to be much weaker with overwhelming force and they will crumble like a deck of cards. If you are wrong, your force is now so spread out all of your attacks are weak. Therefore siege warfare, "the lowest form of warfare" -Sun Tzu

I like the part where he feels the need to draw around Kharkiv when it's written in four inch tall letters. Definitely couldn't have seen it without that circle.

I am sure that military analysts will write books on this operation and analyze combat tactics in order to learn. This is not a visit from one side, guys. The card is incorrect.

Some very strong echoes of the 1939 Winter War here. Overconfident Russian forces launch a war of aggression against neutral Finland, a former Russian territory, expecting to overrun the country in a matter of days. Expecting to be greeting as liberators they instead meet fierce resistance and suffer huge casualties launching frontal attacks. Huge road-bound Russian armored forces literally run out of gas and get ambushed and destroyed. Foreign sentiment is overwhelmingly with the Finns and a flood of foreign volunteers and military aid flows into Finland. The Russians regroup and initiate a war of attrition, using overwhelming firepower with artillery in an attempt to pound the Finns into submission. Everything we are seeing today we have seen before.

One part I agree with you on, its a war of attrition.

Putin: “I used to live here until 1989. I’m back to reclaim it. Please step aside.”
Mariupol: “Get real, mate. We’ve been paying the mortgage on this place for 30 years. Do one.”
