Interesting. I'm 63, and recently finished well into the top half of a major, 55km (33 mile) cross country ski race, and I can't do this!

Some of them were not wearing comfortable clothing! The first rule is to wear comfortable clothing.

This guy's technique is actually even harder @1:26s. I can currently get up from the floor off a block of wood that's around 3 inches off the ground (61 year old male). Yet when I tried this chap's technique @1:26s for getting up, forget it!!! Very impressive!

My parents are 90. One is on a walker but they have longevity. It’s why people can’t believe these stupid predictions. They leave out the heart, soul, and spirit!

This is more about coordination and flexibility than muscular and bone strength. As someone who loves doing weighted squats, going down in a controlled movement was no problem for me. But getting up, when I first was introduced to this test, I found myself being confused about how to use my body, and coordinate my muscles to get up without using an arm or knee for support.
I think it's hyperbolic to say that this is a predictor of age, given that people with perfectly good muscular and skeletal strength as well as coordination can still fail at this, especially the getting up part.

I saw a person at the gym do this each time he sits on the floor to do his ab work and then he rises the same way - X'd feet. So I decided to look it up. Now, I know. Now, I'll incorporate this in. thanks!

I could not have passed it at 20. I eat very well and work out all the time. It seems to me that something that would have to be practiced.
