I'm actually reading through this book, without trying exercises because of time... It's well explained, far more than baby rudin. But you really need to know your basics. He sometimes takes some shortcuts in proofs, because there is a supposedly known property from the principles book that you actually forgot...
Overall, it's a very good book to learn analysis from and to strengthen your basics but it needs a lot of patience and careful reading.

Rudin is always available, even if only in reprint.

If you're able to do > 60% of all the problems in this text, you should be able to get at least a Masters. This is one of the toughest books in Analysis, problem wise. Just reading it forces you to think deeply and you cannot read it like any other maths book. You must read it exceedingly slow, unless you're a genius.

(1) Professer Rudin died about 15 years ago. (2) This book is available on the Internet Archive. (3) Marygrove College was in Detroit MI and closed about a decade ago.

My experience with Real Analysis is limited to what is covered in Calculus (single-varible through vector).
Since Calculus is so geometric (visual), what makes Real Analysis so difficult?

I'm a High School Level, self taught math student from Germany. My dream is it to study math at my local university and I would love to know the best way to prepare for that. Because I need to revisit school first, I have multiple years of time to learn as much math as possible on my own, before going to university. It would be very beneficial, if I could get any advice on how to prepare for a math degree and in providing me with an order in which I can learn all the math I need and more..

Walter Rudin, unfortunately, passed away in 2010 following a prolonged battle with Parkinson's disease.

This book is not for beginners. There are solution manuals out there. The proofs skip basic steps. Reading this book requires other side books for the understanding.
