This is probably the most famous real analysis book in the entire world. It's so popular it actually has a nick name and people call it "Papa Rudin".

The book is called Real and Complex Analysis and it was written by Walter Rudin.

His follow up tome, "Fake and Simple Analysis" did not fare quite so well!

Other real analysis book: well I'll show you some easy-to-understand approach to Lebesgue measurable sets at the beginning.
Rudin: Well I'll show you Lebesgue measure essentially exists. We are using Riesz representation theorem with lots of topology techniques. But before that you have to learn some abstract measure stuff.

Baby Rudin may be more popular because some graduate schools use it for the first graduate course in analysis. At least they did fifteen to twenty years ago. At the University of California campuses Papa Rudin was the standard for first year mathematics graduate students, but at the state universities one would see Baby Rudin for that course.

There is a free Springer ebook by Sheldon Axler, the author of "Linear Algebra Done Right", called "Measure,
Integration & Real Analysis". He just published it this year. I am a first year undergraduate math student and I was curious, so I downloaded it and I find it hard but very friendly.

There is grand pa Rudin too ‘functional analysis’ by Walter Rudin.

Rudin's texts are good for review exercises.

News flash Lars Ahlfors is the de-facto book to Complex analysis and the author also has the distinction of winning the first fields medal. Rudin series is good though if you want a fast path to advanced probability/statistics and stochastic calculus, perfect for smashing idiot quants in finance that waste time and can't make money.

Please make a video on how to find textbooks at a very cheap price. Because most books you talk about are very good but sometimes when I go on the internet and find out it's to expensive, I give up on buying it.

What is your opinion on P=NP? At the firm I work at we mostly have people with a engineering/cs/math background. The general view in the office is that P!=NP. I think this would be a great topic to cover, and I would like to hear some of your reasons behind your conclusion. Also great book review!

I have both Rudin's book and Falland's book on real analysis. I hate to admit it, but except for some introductory material, both books are over my head. I really didn't get much from either book. Maybe if you already know the subject you can expand your knowledge, but I really couldn't learn from either book. We used Royden's book for real analysis and measure theory when I was in grad school. I found Royden a bit more humain. I also used a Shaum's Outline book for Real Analysis, which was very good. Unfortunately, the outline book for real analysis is I believe, out of print. Last time I looked, somebody wanted $200 for a used copy! I think I got mine for something like $2.00 at a "Friends of the Library" book sale.

I want to read either Baby Rudin or Papa Rudin. I'm not a student but someone who likes doing math for fun. Which of the two books would you recommended for an intro book? Or if these two are too difficult, do you have a good third option that would help me ease into Real Analysis?

Please tell me what to read on order to become a complete number theorist with string background in PDE's and geometries .

You might comment on Rudin's Functional Analysis which is still more advanced. When I had the course, the professorsor (not Rudin) would cover a chapter a week.

The real question is why are the names Rudin and Royden so similar. Confusing when speaking about it!

I remember when I first took a analysis book, and was this Papa. Man... I was really scared, thinking "omg, a I've learned nothing from high school". And then, my advisor explained to me the difference between non-brazilian graduation and national system.

Would appreciate a review on Measure, Integration and Real Analysis by Sheldon Axler. Absolutely loved his book on linear algebra

in post-soviet countries Baby Rudin is a well known book, more than two others.

I think it would be better if you not zoom in that much on the pages, it becomes blur
