Here is my experience of getting a job in luxury retail.💕 First I will note that I am a hijab🧕🏽 wearing female which does make a BIG difference in getting hired in retail as most retail stores don’t want that as they believe you won’t represent their brand well BUT generally luxury brands are not like that, I feel like they value skills, experiences AND PERSONALITY (the way you present yourself is very important!!) more. I firstly started working at McDonald’s at 17 and volunteered at Oxfam so this gave me customer-service and retail experience. I then got a job at a concession in Topshop which I worked at for a year. I then started applying for various jobs as that job was slightly unreliable and landed a job at a semi-luxury shoe company (don’t want to name the company but it’s well-known), my job was based in House of Fraser as a concession. I really wanted to work with clothes so I started applying again and finally landed my dream retail job for a luxury company in Selfridges (concession again lol). From my experience I have learnt that fast fashion/high street brands (H&M, New Look etc) are more likely to discriminate in their hiring process which you can easily see in their staffs. Luxury retail staffs are usually more diverse. This video was super helpful but I thought I should give my insight as a POC as it does make the process slightly more harder.♥️

Met a kid knew nothing about luxury at all. Gets a job. Me, knowing as much as long time luxury seller, gets denied from Burberry. 😭.
I just applied to Gucci for season. Hopefully I hear something.

Question: are you able to have a YouTube Chanel on the side while working at Tiffany’s? Or are there social media restrictions they enforce while working for them?

Thanks for this video! SO helpful. Is there any opportunity for Seasonal workers to stay on with the company after the holidays are over? Also is there a pay difference for part-time seasonal, and regular SAs? Thanks again!

Hi Betty, thank you so much for this informative video! I LOVE LV's and I think it would be fun to work work for them. I don't have any retail experience, but I've sold things on different website platforms. Plus, I can speak three languages. Do you think this would be advantages for a part-time or seasonal job at the store?

Okay I had two interviews at Tory Burch and It was something I was very interested in but they moved forward with my application. Is there any way I could look into redeeming myself should I email the hiring manager asking what I could do?

Loved this video, 😄
Can you please make a video for people who are in college studying fashion design for how they can build more experience before they "professionally" get into the industry, to have a better resume?
