A Silent Voice is an amazing movie animated by Kyoto Animations. The Manga it is based on goes more into detail and about some of the things the movie didn't have time to include, and is definitely worth reading if you loved this beautiful story and the characters in it.

Nishimiya's mom's backstory also helps you really understand her a bit.

Personally I’ve read and watched a silent voice and I think they’re both better at certain things. I liked the ending of the movie more, it felt way more emotional and got me tested up. I also liked that it seemed a little more tight and focused in its storytelling which makes sense since movies need to be tighter and more focused with limited run time. I also felt more emotion in general when watching the movie and I felt that shouya and shouko being a greater focus is something I personally liked better in the movie. The manga however fleshes out the entire friend group better and the ending of the manga while not as emotionally charged has a lot of impact and instead of crying at the end I had to put my phone done and just sit in silence for 5 minutes. Overall both great personally I enjoyed the movie ever so slightly more

After rewatching the movie I noticed that the real villain is the teacher, he sort of pushed the kids in horrible positions neglecting them and favoring shoko, which inevitably lead to them despising her. He didn't put an effort into making them equal and help them understand each other, he just said "there you have to deal with her" while ridiculing them for everything. I'm not excusing the actions of the class because in the end what I did was not acceptable but in the end they were just kids and the teacher should've been the person reaching out to them but he neglected his duty as a teacher and more importantly the adult. The actions of the teacher actively lead to shoko and shoya's suffering. I honestly think in this situation there is no one else to blame but him.

I already read the Manga years before. When it was announced I was so hyped to go through all the sadness again so I can remember what real manga/anime character development and forgiveness really means

For real. If you think that the movie was great and amazing. Read the manga for a more complete version of the story, it's one of the best manga out there.

"should" is an understatement. "Need" is a better word for it.

You said exactly what I was thinking! I wondered the same things and it’s all cleared up in the manga. Also the manga just made me hate Miki more lol

Gotta go with the movie, the manga is just as good and he’s gives us more, but the voice acting and the music in the movie was so good, the music is what made the already emotional suicide scene even more emotional.

I love the manga for the art and the kinda slice of life elements of it while telling a compelling story, plus the scenes of Shoya and Shoko felt more personal. Plus, The manga makes me laugh with some of the light-hearted jokes, so it's not so melocholic. Idk, the movie feels less weighty compared to the manga, but both are good.

The movie did a gteat job at giving us an idea of why they're like that though. Especially when you've met people like that in your life
