How does the 'Hit' work? How can you tell that the ball isn't 'Hitting' as it travels across the screen sideways? What are you doing to identify the moment of contact with the wall?

For example, if you were to throw the ball sideways across the screen, would you 'hit' everything in a horizontal line?
