Only 2 hours late this week, that's what I call PROGRESS! Ok sit down, class is starting. If you're an AMerican, happy 4th of July, best have an epic weekend or uncle Sam will be coming to TAZE YOU.

“Just try your best! …Even if your best sucks.”

Best advice ever.

I'm still at level 1, and I plan to stick to it for as long as possible until I understand it completely before speedrunning the rest. My art skills have been sub-par for years Because I skipped level 1 when I was younger.

I know you see comments like “wow as soon as I needed this, he uploaded, ” and I usually find those annoying, but here I am, with a bunch of reference photos ready, trying to figure out how to start, thanks Marc :D

Me, someone who has been drawing for over 10 years but not actively: still at level 1 🤡
It's my fault tho, I don't draw that often. I used to draw almost everyday when I was in middle school but as adult responsibilities come, I haven't been able to draw much - mostly because of lack of motivation. I'm lucky if I do one complete piece every 3 months, and I don't even do simple shorter studies or sketches in between, which is what I'm trying to improve :(

Edit: after watching this video I realized I should start studying art more seriously and I started practicing poses everyday, going for 1 week for now :D Currently at level 1 and I'll probably go to level 2 once I finish a couple of sketchbooks (which until now had been extremely dificult - I never finish my sketchbooks)

I'm an artist at level 3 and you just gave the BEST advice I have ever heard: observe your reference for 5 minutes before jumping in, and pay attention to details such as lighting, texture, and how shadows form. I always felt like at one point in the study I just start copying the reference without really understanding what I'm doing. Those extra 5 minutes at the beginning definitely made a HUGE difference as I am now consciously making drawing decisions for a reason, instead of just drawing what I see.

“You’d be at level 3 if you’ve been drawing for 2/3 years.” I’ve been drawing 7+ years and I’m still at level 1. That too, barely. I guess I should just quit 😂

After I am done with studies for the day, I change my phone wallpaper to some art I would want to study. Not only this makes it more desirable to study, but I keep observing it for the rest of the day

quick tip! before starting a drawing, always plan ahead... i know it sounds like common sense, but hear me out!

if you want your drawing process to be as clean as possible, always do a sketch or doodle your ideas on a separate sheet if youre doing traditional and if youre doing digital yknow.

it helps a lot having an idea in your head, and if not, youll just keep erasing and erasing until you dont wanna draw anymore!

"Take a good minute to study what your about to draw". no one has ever told me that before. It makes so much sense. Really take time and study the reference before you draw it. Man I feel dumb that I've never done this simple thing.

Level 2 was really helpful for me. I've gotten so frustrated studying weird gesture drawing poses because that's what I saw in art books. I never understood why people in art books twist themselves into human pretzels. Going to drop the books and just draw what I want now ✌️

Now here´s a big one: How can you stop overthinking your art? Productivity issues is really crippling because ...well no art gets made xDD
