One of the biggest questions I see newcomers ask, is whether they should use Unity, or Unreal Engine for game development. When it comes to making a game, both of these engines are perfectly capable of creating the same games.

In this video, I discuss topics like which engine is better suited for making mobile games, and which engines are better for 2D, and 3D game development.

I hope this video is able to give viewers a definitive guide on which engine they should use to start their game dev career.

Personally I use and love Notepad++ as a game engine

Notepad ++ wasn't powerful enough for me, so I use command prompt.

I'm thinking of doing video game development as a hobby because there is a lot of triple A racing game titles out there that are not always meeting the expectations of the consumers, mainly because of the company focusing more on the quanity that they make out of the product instead of focusing on the quality of the product and how they can improve it. Because of this, I want to start off with Unity so I can get a feel of what it's like to make a game. When I gain more experience, I will probably move over to Unreal.

I started with UE5 and had really problems to come in, because i was before a C++ developer and yes i want to program c++. But i didn't found so much helpfull tutorials to reach my goals. At the end i found out, there is no C++ api for that stuff which i want to do. Means i need to make Blueprints. I'm more a text programmer then a visual programmer.

Then i make the turn to Unity and i really need to say. I made the basic courses from unity itself + the specific courses which i need to do and it was really nice and easy to do the stuff which i want to do. I'm still a beginner with some weeks of expirience but currently I'm feeling more home in unity then in UE5

Thank you. Now it makes sense. I gotta figure out how to install Unreal Engine eventually but will try out Unity first.

So true.
First is a good idea to learn Unity to be familiar with c# and how all things work including classes, abstract classes, events, interfaces, singletons, etc
BUT... then would be nice to have some nice series of tutorials on how to make a simple but complete game using UE to get familiar with what is where and how is all connected together first using blueprints and then C++. But I haven't found anything like this and UE just looks overwhelming with a very steep learning curve. I tried a couple of times but dropped it every single time.

I wanna start programming but I'm little hesitant, thinking how can I possibly write those long ass codes...it feels intimidating. If there's any suggestion, I'll be very grateful.

Greeeeat vídeo for beginners. Unreal c++ programming is more efficient than blueprints in some cases btw! ❤️

The only thing that really matters is which Asset Store/Market Place has better assets for the game you want to make. Both engines can do the same stuff for a solo developer.

Well, I'm so confused...
- I'm a web developer (front-end) and want to join the game Development world.
- Willing to learn another language.
- I wanna make a 3d multiplayer racing mobile game and I want it to be good-looking (just like Asphalt 9).
- An engine with excellent support community and assets to make a game as a solo dev.
- I want to change from web to game development, C#(Unity) and C++(Unreal) which language should I choose to make my career join the big company (If I get a chance)?

Please help me choose what Engine is best for me, thank you a lot...

By the way, love your content, really inspired me to be a game dev.

As an avid gamer that’s going to mess around with some game developing for fun, one of my favorite games being EFF and seeing it’s MASSIVE optimization issues, unreal seems like a more modern engine. I would be curious if some senior devs could leave some input on how much of EFTs optimization issues are due to the actual programming behind it and not the engine itself

Personal advise and probably the shortest answer. If you still need videos to help you select from these 2, select Unity.

sure I do agree that the unreal enigne 4 and 5 is better than the old unity enegine but the unity just made a new next gen engine of unity looks amazing too it's right up there with unreal engine 5 next gen engine in my honest opinion i think both the new unity and the new unreal enegine are both equally amazing the best the new underrated atari vcs pc/console that my favorite unpopular hardware does used unity enegine for indie games and also first party atari games
