"Just keep studying" 100%. I know a few people that get stuck > become doomers > and then stop trying. Gotta keep studying and improving/adapting

After being laid off in March, I just landed a Jr Security Analyst role. This competitive market is crazy!

Lost my IT Support job the end of March with the DoD during probationary period. Had a super toxic supervisor and things just didn't pan out. I am now using my VA benefits to go to WGU for Cyber Security which I'm super pumped about. I've taken the last 2 months to work on my professional development and was able to clear the Network+ which completes the CompTIA trifecta for me and gives me a huge head start in my degree program. The job market sucks right now but at least I have the time and resources to change my circumstances.

Use your IT skills and go where the herd isnt going. That is all. Security is used basically everywhere in IT.

I am currently in wgu cybersecurity, i plan to be done by late august/early September of next year. I plan to finish the courses with the entry level comptia certs(A, Net, sec) close to the end of the year I plan to find and help desk job/entry level i.t job because I feel like getting basic i.t experience while doing to degree/certs will make finding a cybersecurity job must easier. The part where people forget is getting an entry level job while doing the degree.

CyberSec is alive and well in DoD and Government, and those jobs cant be outsourced due to national security issues.

I went through tech school and got a job in help desk. I received my security plus and tried to move into cyber security after 2 years. I'm unable to get a job in that market. I'm thinking of joining the airforce for schooling and job experience in cyber security. If I'm not wrong it will also give me security clearance for some of the higher paying jobs later in life.

I think with all things the industry you're applying for matters a lot when it comes to competitive market. A lot of people want to work for big tech but you won't find a lot of people relative to big tech applying to smaller firms or companies in completely different industries like hospitality or industrial for instance.

In my market, personally having manager, director, analyst titles...not a single staffing agency, recruiter or employer will offer you a Helpdesk job...no matter how long you have been unemployed or if you tell them you want to grow in a lower position.
