Anton, I just now noticed that you've lost a child to SIDS. I myself did too 15 years ago. It's tough, especially on your marriage. That first year was the worst, I don't think a day went by when I didn't think about the loss of my son. Time heals all wounds and 5 years later My wife and I had 2 more children which was one of the best things we could have done. Stay positive, (I have a feeling you are) and know that there are people to talk to.

I’ve always thought it’s not so much “where is everyone” but “when WERE they, or when WILL they be”. Also, everything is RIDICULOUSLY far away! By the time one of us reaches the other, chances are one of us will be extinct. Just a guess!

I always find when it comes to the discussion of intelligent life in our galaxy that it's very interesting that people assume that with our extremely limited coverage of the sky, and the insanely vast distance involved that we'd have much of a chance to pick up any signs of another civilization. Especially if they're at a level of technology like ours.

If they're less advanced? Even less of a chance.

More advanced? They might not be using means of communication we'd even be able to detect.

We know so little, but we're learning. I hope that in my lifetime, we get to learn of another civilization out there. Humanity being alone in the galaxy has always been the most depressing possibility in my mind.

Every time I think about the Fermi paradox, it always blows my mind, every single time. we're so tiny and miniscule, and the possibilities are endless. An infinite rabbit hole.

This is my favourite possible answer to the Fermi Paradox. I belive that people underestimate what "more advanced civilization " can mean, it could be inimaginably more advanced, they could filter all information coming from space and hide among us. We can not test it, but for the same reason we can not discard it...

Love exploring the Fermi paradox, can't wait to see the rest of the videos.

This is my second personal favorite explanation

Number one is that alien civilizations capable of space travel would have the technology to cloak their entire existence. Block all signals from leaving their space.

Or they’re here but we cant see them.

This is a brilliant idea brother. Love this multi part concept. Keep up the great work! And thank you!

As Anton suggested, any highly advanced Aliens would likely be very hesitant to interfere UNTIL they felt we would be able to handle that. We still have a hell of a time just getting along w/each other. I don't think an encounter w/some well-meaning Alien is going to end well.

You are a good guy Anton, should be more like you, billions more.

I think that life will crop up just about anywhere it has half a chance, but those chances may be few, very few. Intelligent life may be even more rare because it needs a large and complex ecosystem to thrive. Add to that the size and age of the universe, and we may be very lucky to ever hear a "Hello?"

One of the assumptions to the whole Drake equation is that we're somehow "normal" or "average." My favorite counter to this is how we're not -- we actually exist really early in the expected lifetime of the universe. The answer, therefore, to "where is everyone?" could be "there isn't anybody else; we're the first."

This series is an excellent idea. Give this man a raise

Considering how 'young' the universe is, how long it will exist and our current place along that path, it would make sense that we're amongst the first intelligences in the universe.

I had heard of this principal before, but you made it very easy to understand. Thanks for coming back to this topic and expanding on it. Super excited for the rest of this series!
