Did you know Starlight NEVER Uses her actual Powers in the comics?
In the show many fans complain that when Starlight does use her powers which siphon electricity and use it as a weapon, it is often underwhelming, like her charged up shot against Soldier Boy which does absolutely nothing
But in the comics we never see her use these powers at all
In fact the only time where she comes close to any sort of battle is when Homelander comes for Queen Maeve and she is grabbed by Maeve and thrown off the Vought sky base to save her
Starlight is strictly used as eye candy while she is a part of the Seven, with constant costume changes that show more and more skin and the only clear indicator that she has Compound V in her blood, is when she hovers in the air, a couple of times in the entire story

i think it’s mainly because her powers really aren’t that powerful so having her use them against most of the seven wouldn’t really work and vought probably brought her on to be eye candy

What you mean we never seen her use her powers in the comics? She does use her powers in the comics. Twice actually. She blinded one of A-Train's eyes temporarily with her powers. And she permanently blinded her real parents immediately after she was born when she told her origin story

I know a lot of people were complaining that Starlight wasn't really doing anything of substance through the first half of season 4, but comparatively to the comics, she's getting a lot more stuff to do in the show. The writers are trying their best to balance staying true to the character and finding ways to make her useful and interesting.
