Starlight's Top 5 POWERS & Abilities - The Boys Explained

Показать описание
Hey everyone,
And welcome to the first video on Fantasy Theory. I have a lot of plans for this channel, and I’m really excited to get the ball rolling. If you’re here from Marvel Theory, thank-you so much for staying with me, and if you’re new to the channel, welcome, I hope you’ll stay and find this place really entertaining for different movies and shows of your interest. Now before we begin, I just would like to say that I’ve also brought on my co-partner from Harry Potter Theory, Silas, on this channel as well. You may recognize his voice and if you don’t know about him you could check out Harry Potter Theory OR you can wait until the end of this video where he’ll also come in and talk about the topics in this video too. So without further ado, let’s begin on today’s video.
So in this video, we’re going to be taking a closer looking at Amazon’s hit show, The Boys. Now, when this came out a year-over a year ago now I was absolutely in love with the show. It is such a different and refreshing twist on superheroes-particularly DC superheroes-cause’ we can really tell that’s what they’re going on here.
Now, we know that in The Boys there are many different ‘supes’ or ‘superheroes’, each boasting their own unique skills and abilities. From supe to supe, abilities and powers can really vary. Homelander can basically do..well-anything, The Deep can breathe underwater and speak to sea creatures, and A-train can run..very very fast.
But we’ve often wondered what the limits of Starlight are - the newest member of the Seven. She certainly seems to be the most level headed, and that is an ability in and of itself, but as far as SUPERhero abilities- what is she packing?
To quote Annie AKA Starlight herself:
"You know how you have this... image of yourself? Like, I thought I was strong. You know? Like, made of steel. A fighter."
When you hear this list, ‘made of steel’ is going to sound like a serious understatement. Before we get started, it should be mentioned that Starlight’s powers differ from comic to tv adaptation- though we expect that we will see some of the powers that she exhibits in the comics in future seasons.
The first one is Flight
That’s right, Annie January has the power of flight. We don’t actually get to see Starlight flying around New York in the show, but in the comic this is one of her main, and perhaps most important superpowers. Homelander and Stormfront also possess the ability to fly. This is on the bottom of the list because we haven’t actually seen it in the show yet.
2. Electricity Absorption
Electrical absorption or manipulation allows Annie to absorb sources of electricity around her - and it is with this same electricity that she fuels her powers. That’s why we see lights flickering when she gets riled up.
3. Superhuman Durability:
Starlight is said to possess enhanced durability - far exceeding that of a regular human, but not quite reaching superhuman levels. When Annie takes two high caliber bullets to the chest, she felt a fair bit of pain and was knocked on her back. She even bled a bit, but recovered quite quickly and was fine the next day. However, had she possessed superhuman durability, like Homelander, then the bullets would have done absolutely nothing and deflected back.
4. Energy Blasts
Starlight possesses the ability to produce blasts of energy from her hands - these blasts are comprised of extremely bright light and she’s able to fire them off when she absorbs electricity.
"Electricity goes in, blast comes out."
The blasts are capable of a few things- First, the blasts are powerful enough to send people flying backwards, and second, the blasts are so bright that they can blind people if they are looked at directly.
And the fifth one, I’m going to let Silas take that and end this video.
Hey guys, this is Silas.
5. Superhuman Strength:
Starlight has enhanced levels of strength - this means that she’s far more powerful than a normal human, but not quite at near-superhuman or superhuman levels, like Homelander or Queen Maeve.
We see Starlight’s feats of strength in the show when she lifts the back of a car in her backyard, then holds it up in the air with one hand. The car has been speculated to weigh somewhere around 3600 lbs, which is over 30 times her bodyweight. Annie can also punch holes in walls and easily bust out a set of clean one-handed chin-ups.
And that concludes the list. Annie has other abilities, but these are just the 5 that we felt were most notable. As mentioned earlier, there are definitely some inconsistencies between the comic and the show with regards to what Annie’s powers are- but as the show is still in its humble beginnings, I’m sure we’ll see Annie January bust out more of her abilities as the seasons are released.
That’s it for this video, thank-you guys for stopping by.
