Countess’ death scene echoes the scene where Maeve tells Homelander “from the start, I hated you”. Both soldier boy and homelander mistake their lovers’ fear for adoration.

Countess wasn’t an idiot. She knew Ben had made up his mind about killing her already. As such, she went out saying what she always wanted to say to him.

Basically Crimson Countess and the rest of her former team are a mirror of the 7. Almost everyone hated Soldier boy because he was similar to homelander. And most of the 7 hated homelander or too afraid to admit it.

You have to at least admire her courage. No begging or pleading, she tells him the truth and faces her death with calm resignation.

Laurie Holden has had key roles in some of the best fantasy/sci-fi shows and films of the past 30 years (X-Files, Walking Dead, The Mist, The Boys). Truly an underappreciated actress.

I love Crimson’s look of fearful confusion at 1:34. She had no idea the radioactive powers Ben had acquired whilst being experimented on at the Russian lab

I wonder what Crimson Countess thought when she saw his chest/core start glowing. She has seen everything hes capable of doing presumably as a former member of his team, none ever including any form of energy projection. The sound it makes alone is enough to let you know you're in trouble when it's charging.

Not that the comic book writers didn't do a great job, but I really loved how they turned this character into their own thing and it fits with the show. That's how you do adaption!
