Ever wonder what happens when a school bus is involved in a head-on collision?

IMMI, manufacturer of SafeGuard, has conducted more safety tests on school buses and bus seats than anyone in the world combined. This latest crash demonstration at CAPE, demonstrates there are No More Excuses for not providing lap-shoulder belts for children on school buses.

My bus driver was very strict when I rode bus to and from school. He made sure everyone was seated and facing forward at all times. Nowadays the bus drivers don't care if they are standing or facing backwards or whatever as long as they were behind the white line while the bus was in motion

I show this video to my students every year, multiple times throughout the school year. I want them to see why I am so strict about making sure they're all seated properly. I drive safe, but I cannot control what other drivers do out on the road, so I want to be sure that if something happens they're all okay. I tell them about all the safety features of the bus, so they know how I and the bus are keeping them safe. As far as I'm concerned, my ONLY job is keeping my kids safe.

Now they should test ir without seatbelts.. Because in 90% of busses, there aren't any.

Not as safe as I would have thought. You'd think there would be tighter regulations on school buses but I guess not

Looks relatively safe considering how much money, fuel, and weight they have to save. The front absorbed a lot of impact.

I think the driver would have died because the steering wheel moved upward and compounding the problem is a lack of airbags for the driver.

very well done on video. The only thing I'd suggest is that the seatbelts & buckles be made of bright reflective materials to make evacuations faster

Looks like the kid kneeling backwards on a seat had a rather soft impact with the seat in from of him. His spine was kept straight and he probably didn't have whiplash.
