School Bus Slams Into Wall

In this crash test, we placed test dummies in several different positions — restrained in three-point SafeGuard seat belts, unrestrained in base seats with out seat belts, and out-of-position (looking over the back of the seat, sitting sideways, etc.). The visual results tell the story.

I like how the test dummies were sitting in typical positions that you would see in real life situations and you can see the different effects in each one. Seat belts would be great, but how do you make the passengers wear them and how will the driver be protected from liability when a passenger is hurt because on non compliance?

Its scary that airbags and seatbelts arent mandated on schools buses, the vessel that carry people anywhere from ages 5 to 18 on a daily basis during school months.

I actually asked a Blue Bird bus rep about this. They now have high back seats because of it. The reason they don't have seatbelts, is because of the fact that kids will whip kids with the other seatbelts. Therefore it will create more injuries.

Believe me, because this particular school bus is so rugged, this is the exact same kind of forces you WILL experience in a crash with a metal classic car, especially if it is body on frame.

Lol the closest I have come to being in a bus wreck was when I was in 7th grade and a giant truck knocked one of the bus side mirrors off lol

I thought the point of having school busses without a seatbelt is that children need to die during crashes. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but these busses have been in this way for 20 plus years.

Make sure that the whole entire space in that garage is all clear before you start doing crash tests.
