It's home to dog-eating Haitian migrants - at least that's what Donald Trump says about the Ohio town of Springfield.

Speaking during the US presidential debate this week, the former president told millions of TV viewers that Haitian migrants were killing and cooking pet dogs and cats.

US correspondent Mark Stone went to find out whether there was any truth to Trump's claim, and examine the real issues facing the town.

They're ruining that town. It's not fair to residents who have lived there all their lives.

15000 into one small town? Really? Were the locals asked?

Why is no one, Trump or the media speaking about the Haitian Vodou religion which is practiced by at least 50 percent of Haitians, that includes animal sacrifices such as dogs and cats and then eating them?
Sacrificing animals and then eating them is not just something that was done in the past but it is done currently.

I am sure Trump had some facts before he said the statement for so many viewers.

When I lived in Palm beach county Florida 15 years ago my dog got stolen off the front porch of my house where I had a long leash and let him out for fresh air .. Anyway I called the police and made a report as my neighbor saw 4 people run up that walked by a few times that night and the cops that came explained to me that the Haitian community in that area was known to take pets and that is a tradition in Haiti to use domesticated animals for food and that's just their way of surviving ... Obviously I was shocked at that thought I never had heard that before but evidently there is some truth to it and I never saw that dog again.. Yeah so Trump didn't pull this out of thin air as I heard a lot about it after asking people around South Florida if they had ever heard about this and many native Floridians said it was factualy true ..

The fact that Haitians eat cat meat and have been eating it for hundreds of years every Christmas Eve is verifiable.

Just like when everybody denied third world countries sending criminals and then Colorado happened. Just give it time and the truth shall reveal itself.

Interview random people and ask them if they've seen a Haitian eat a cat. That's the way to find out if it happened

The general sociological trend in American history is that if a city gets Blacker, it will get worse.

Everything is rosy, nothing to see here so move along... just 15, 000 Haitians... so far.

Some Springfield residents called a town hall meeting and gave testimony about this happening to their pets, or they actually saw it happen. It's on video. But I guess in the name of diversity we must call them all liars.

They're eating the ducks and the geese in my city... Phoenix Arizona they're taking nets to the parks. These guys are literally throwing cast nets into little ponds stocked with minimal fish funded by fishing licenses part of our Urban fishing program we have limits and they're not following them. Cast nets are not even legal in my state. We have nothing but stocked waterways. When they can't get any fish because they've out fished the ponds, they turn their cast nets on to the ducks and the geese. We've witnessed it. There were these three guys from Libya that would constantly use a cast net at my local park, and they would leave before game and fish got there. These guys came late at night and took a breeding pair of geese and a female swan that have frequented that Park for many years.

I have actually caught one grabbing a goose by the leg and he opened his rucksack up before grabbing the bird and myself and another 2 people shouted and he let the goose go and laughed at us. I take my grandchildren down to feed the wildlife and this has to stop😢.
