I found, living in Ireland and France, that the Irish use 'wee' in much the same way that the French use 'petit'.
Et c'est très mignon les deux endroits!

It's fairly common to see people eating some of their baguette while touring the supermarket, before the checkout. I have sometimes presented an empty barquette (plastic container) at the checkout, having ate the pastries it had.

I'm french and 36 years old and I still love to see the bakery bag twist. It reminds me of my childhood, it was so cool and fascinating to see the woman do that "little" twist !

and turning the paper bags in bakeries in France is for 2 reasons, to prevent the pastries from drying out with the air or also from cooling if they are hot, a pain au chocolat or a hot croissant is is super good and to prevent them from scattering in your bag!!

Remember that a real Kir is made with crème de cassis and vin blanc de bourgogne which means no syrup of any kind.

Strangers wishing me "Bon appetit!" I love that.

"Petit" est un arme à double tranchant :
- un petit service = une journée de déménagement
- 5 petites minutes = 2 heures
- un petit détour = 20 kms de plus

... mais c'est tellement plus mignons ... 😂😂😂

My favourite is the "hop!" or "hop là!". I have lived in France for three months now, and lucked out with some awesome neighbours. One of my neighbours said he has some extra furniture in his 'cave' and at his place that I could use until I get furniture of my own. He lives one floor below, and we carried a couch one floor up the stairs. There was an "hop là!" every time there was a minor movement or change of direction, maybe 30 in total between two short flights of stairs. I find it super endearing, and hear people saying "hop!" all the time! I find myself uttering un tout petit "hop" sometimes now. :)

I use grocery cart and i'm 29 🇫🇷😂
Actually I used to believe it is an old people thing, but got tired of carrying heavy food filled bags. Practical to carry water bottles.

We had one of those carts when living in NYC. My parents were not seniors at the time. It was the only way to get your groceries home a few blocks away.

no microwaving the baguette! Sacrilege! lol. After taking out of the freezer, Just run it quickly under cold water, shake off excess and put in 325 F oven for 8-10 . It will be crispy and delicious.

My husband is French. We were in Paris visiting friends and they ordered Chinese food (I know... I know.). One of his friends mentioned that when he was a boy, his family went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. His grandfather was mortified that they did not serve baguettes. He told my friend to go over to the patisserie and get a baguette, because he HAD to have a baguette with dinner.
A few days later, I was driving around Paris to get baguettes at Mahmoud M'Seddi because he was the winner of France's 2018 Grand Prize for Best Parisian Baguette. We passed THREE patisseries with no lines to wait 15 minutes for a baguette. I will say, it was damn good! (But I would have been just as happy with an okay baguette!)

I stopped asking my son to buy bread ( baguette) on his home from school because I each time end with only 5cm long piece left out of a 70cm long baguette. At such time of the day the baguette is just out of the boulangerie oven therefore warm and crispy and the kid eats it along the way. Once the left over in my hand, he looks funny says and he knows he better goes back to buy a new one.

In the UK, we do get some people using those sorts of "bags on wheels trolleys" as I call them. But usually, in shops, people use the trolleys with the metal wires (just huge baskets with wheels on them). The sorts of trolleys you were talking about in the video are also pretty much for elderly people, and they bring them _everywhere!_
To be fair, they do seem really convenient!

We also use "small" and "a bit of" a lot

Definitely saw the whole baguette thing in France on the two vacations I spent there and it was very endearing, not to mention delicious.
