I remember there was a movie that used something like this. I think it was called gamer. You were surrounded by a 360 screen that changed and reacted according to your actions and thoughts. Although the technology of these "pins" were not put into play, it seems very much related. Movies can cause wonders.

I would love for this to be implemented into video games one day, I've always wondered what it would be like to really experience a game environment and be directly in it's plot.

Yes it need a spesial suit to enter the static room that has negative and positive system so if to much energy that you are recieving or getting intowards you then you must have like a shield system or you can call it anti static so the energy can just go around etc. As the suit theory?

i would love to see both internet contact lenses and even an actual food replication system like on star trek. In fact I would invest and buy shares of a company that could invent food replication systems like on star trek because that would be a serious ground breaking technology !

those omnidirectional treadmills sound AWESOME!

A group used that treadmill and paintball guns to create a virtual FPS game. It was pretty amazing.

@Chic01taliano What about some type of strings, that is attached to a lot of places on your bodysuit. And then when you collide with something, the strings stretches, thereby making you unavailable to move that spot, which it's locking.

Sometimes my contacts get so dry that they wrinkle up and fall out of my eye when i blink, what happens if im in the middle of a game and my cantact falls out? Will it save automaticaly? will my character fall? Will it feel like I'm falling if it's virtual reality and what not?

@yvan2505 A perfect example of this can be created by pixil-ized images. Many camera companies use this in their adverts. You take many pixels (in their case full size pictures chosen for their prevalent color scheme) which up close look like nothing, but at a distance the eye blurs and commingles the individual pixels to make a clear image. The same would apply here- the image begins as pixels, when you eye attempts to make sense of them at regular focus the pixels will form a clear image.

I see what you're getting at, but as pretty as the real world is, our own imagination can potentially conjure up much more than we could possibly experience in reality. This sort of thing would be similar to reading a book, watching a film or playing a video game. As long as we have creativity and imagination, there will always be new things to add to and experience in this internet dimension, and seeing as people have yet to tire of a good fictional book, they shouldn't tire of this.

Sounds like the technology used in Ghost in the Shell. Very fascinating series, I suggest anyone that enjoys these types of themes to give it a look.
