The importance of talking about mental health and well-being

Mental health is something we all have. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

Mental health problems are common. In 2019, nearly 50 million Americans experienced mental health problems. More than half of those adults did not receive treatment for the problems they were experiencing.

We all know that physical health is important and is something we need to look after so that we can stay fit and well. If you were experiencing high blood pressure, diabetes, or another physical health problem, it would be important to seek the appropriate treatment. Seeking treatment if you’re experiencing a mental health problem is no different. We all need to take care of our mental health, just as we do for our physical health, so that we can think and feel the way we want to and have a more enjoyable future.
