We should also ask all the African nations who had ancestors that took part in the African slave trade for reparations too, let’s not forget them

So does this also include the 20% black slaveowners and their slaves or is that something we’re just gonna overlook and wash out

It wont happen. They'll just talk about doing it and divide us further.

The Confederacy and the Civil War lasted 4 years, and people demand they're remembered, while slavery existed for over 246 years, and the same people want it forgotten.

Could you imagine how many Hellcats, diamond chains, grills, and watches would be bought in the first week? Money would be right back where it started within a year with the taxpayer stuck with the bill.

Blacks owned slaves too, so how do we separate yall? And what about every other race that has been slaves, or are we specifically worrying about US slaves. In that case, we should also seek reparations from the people that sold the slaves in the first place.

Those who were slaves and those who were slave owners are now long dead. The dead can’t pay the dead. END OF STORY!!

Should the black lives leaders pay for encouraging the riots and for the damage they have caused.

Reparations? We already have welfare, which makes up 99% of black income

They should ask reparations from Anthony Johnson instead, since he's the one who sold his own kind into slavery. He was a black man and the first legal slave owner in the US.

Not only was Johnson African through-and-through, but he was also an ex-slave himself. In 1621 he’d been snatched by slave traders and wound up working as an ‘indentured servant’ in Virginia. Now, while ‘indentured servants’ were basically slaves there was one important difference: when their contract expired or was bought out, they were free. That means all the beatings, forced labor and general awfulness had an end in sight—and owners were legally bound to honor it. Thanks to this system, Johnson was able to buy his freedom and eventually set up his own plantation. So, when one of his ‘servants’ came to the end of his contract, Johnson let him go, right? Nope. He took the guy to court and sued for his right to own him for life. The court agreed and, hey presto, suddenly slavery was de-facto legal in Virginia. Six years later, it was on the books and a whole depressing chapter of American history was ushered in—all thanks to one guy who’d apparently never heard of ‘solidarity’.

As a black man I’m EMBARRASSED that y’all are always seeking reparations. I remember when the Katrina refugees came over from New Orleans into Houston. What did they do with FEMA grant money? Rims. Rims on the car tvs and jewelry. You say it’s owed? It’s owed to people in the ground. Handouts get wasted. Only hard work and discipline gets you paid.

Who gets em and how much? And explain why current immigrants should foot that bill or how you'll get the money from exclusively descendants of slaveowners? However important it is, without these questions answered, it's impossible to implement.

Slavery wasn't limited to one country and one time period either. I don't see a ball and chain on anyone's ankle these days unless you put it there yourself. The power of education.

Everyone forgot that a good amount of slaves were SOLD by their villages right? Id rather burn my money than pay reperations
