Context and slightly more detailed explanation:

Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia because one of the failed assassins killed their archduke Ferdinand and his wife, and Austria-Hungary believed it was Serbia’s fault (and it probably was), this then caused them to declare war on Serbia which was allied with Russia and Russia was allied with France and Austria-Hungary was allied with The German Empire, so the central powers (Germany& Austria-Hungary) had a plan where they would invade France first as fast as possible before sending all their troops to fight Russia, but there was on problem, France had too many defenses on the border between France and Germany, so they decided to invade Belgium 🇧🇪 so that then they will send all their troops there to be able to invade France from there, them invading Belgium made the central powers look evil, causing the Brits to join in the war on Belgium and the allies’s side.

Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia for killing their arch duke (Ferdinand) and as you can see Serbia was allied with Russia which was allied with France, and Austria-Hungary was allied with the german empire and their plan was to rush France then attack Russia, but since the borders between France and Germany were well defended the germans attacked neutral Belgium to go through and attack France, but then the British joined to defend Belgium
