And it means that your glute max (the biggest muscle in your butt) is UNDERACTIVE, which is putting you at risk for chronic pain butt AND back pain.
(And spoiler alert, it may not be something you can just fix with rear leg lifts)
WHY?
When we spend too much time sitting on our butts, the glute max starts to relax WAY more than they’re supposed to.
As a result, adhesion (the # 1 most common cause of chronic pain) can form around these UNDERACTIVE muscles (like a cast!) to protect them.
Here’s where the problem starts:
When you start trying to “reactivate” your glutes with bridges, rear leg raises, or a similar exercise...
The supporting, smaller muscles (like you glute medius) have to work extra hard to make your body move in the way that your brain is telling it to!
Because your glute MAX is still all glued up by adhesion!
So you end up doing ALL this work for a shapely, slap-able butt… but end up with less shape than you would otherwise GET because your muscles aren’t working properly!
That’s not to mention the pinching feeling you may start to get under your butt cheeks…
