Here’s why you’re feeling RDLs in your Lower Back

📈 The goal of the Romanian deadlift is to create a hip hinge motion.

We want to push the hips back

🔑 But, it’s important to keep the knees in place.

Pushing the hips AND knees back often leads to:
1️⃣ Neural tension behind the knee (no, that’s not your hamstrings working)
2️⃣ Lower back taking over

Focus on keeping the shin angle vertical or slightly positive.

This is actually exactly the advice I needed to deadlift without pain. Someone at the gym taught me to put all the weight in my heels. Said “you should almost feel like you’re falling back.” But didn’t warn me about the shin angle. Probably never was a problem for him, I’m not blaming him.

Even with good form, let's say I do RDL twice a week, for like 8 weeks straight, would it still be normal to develop some kind of lower back soreness?
