I got my sutures out last week after having trigger thumb surgery. I now have an area about 1/4” x 1” where the skin is hard and swollen. It feels like a callus. The incision itself healed beautifully, you can barely see where they cut me open, but the area just outside of where the holes from the sutures were is puffed up. It sort of has a mild burning feeling and it is annoying any time I bend my thumb.

My son had an appointment to see his pediatrician yesterday. At the end of the appointment, I quickly asked his doctor her opinion on my hand and she thought it was a “reaction” to the sutures and she recommended using a strong hydrocortisone cream. She asked if anyone in my family had a prescription from maybe having excema in the past. My husband does, so she said to put some of that on and continue using silicone bandages and massaging the scar. It's only been a week, so I'll stick it out a little longer, but this doesn't seem like something that will go away anytime soon with massages and moisturizers.

I’ve had two of these procedures, perfect outcomes…your surgeon is the key

I had the surgery today by Dr. Bendago in Toronto. I am hoping for few complications. The local anaesthetic hasn't worn off yet (2 injections. 1 in my wrist and the other at the site of the incision), and I have 16 Tylenol 3's for pain. The bandage must stay dry for 3 days, then new bandage and polysporin every day for a week. Followup appointment is in 2 weeks. Thank you for this informative video.

I’ve a had the surgery on my thumb twice probably at the age of 5 and 7 I’m now 17 and have stiffness and it’s still causing pain I’m spoken to my doctor about it and they’ve recommended I get another surgery but what would they do differently?

I got it from welding(squeezing welding gun trigger) 16hrs a day. I had the surgery on 3 fingers on my right hand over 10 years ago. Thankfully, there were no side effects and my hand has never felt weak or anything. I have wondered if I had just quit that job back then and avoided the surgery if my trigger finger(s) would have healed on their own.

I recently had middle and ring finger done 7.25.24. Stitches are internal with steri strips on the outside. At this point not to much discomfort. But the only follow up is in two weeks via phone? Also I work on computers 7 - 9 hours a day, should I have gone right back to work? I did not have locking fingers but extreme pain. During the surgery, the surgeon stated, there was a lot of "gunk". What is this gunk?? Was also not give much home therapy. Just to keep bending the fingers.

Do you have a video explaining the others in blue font (nerve damage, etc)?

Had trigger surgery May 17thon 3, 4 & 5th fingers. They don`t lock up anymore. I have calluses around the incision areas. The area is sensitive to touch, but I can bend all the fingers . Hand strength is not back to pre surgery days, but it's getting there. What are good rehab exercises to do?

I had the surgery 2 weeks ago on my ring and pinky fingers. I believe I got the triggers from 45 years of guitar playing. I am now able to play the guitar but there is serious weakness and what seems like tendon weakness in my fingers and I can only play for 30 minutes before its too painful. Can I expect my tendons to strengthen and gain back the ability to play for hours as is sometimes needed? Thanks!

Hello! I just got trigger finger release surgery 2 days ago, and today as I was doing the exercises suggested by my surgeon to avoid stiffness, I noticed I still have some “clicking”. Does this mean I have to get the surgery done again? Do I have to wait some time before getting it done again? Thanks!

Defining a surgical complication as a failed surgery is a real stretch. A better definition of complication is a side effect. And the great majority of the complications that you list are temporary.

So after the trigger finger stops snapping i guess it's just not able to make a fist and the middle finger just kind of remains out which means there's probably a lot of scat tissue. . And swollen only occurs on the affected diget.

I cant make a fist. My ringfinger stand straight . All the others bent but thumbfinger not.

Thank you for this informative video. However, the sound quality is very poor and made listening so difficult that several times I considered giving up on it. Please get some help with the sound so that your videos will be more enjoyable. Thanks, again.
