I have an mri confirmed complex medial meniscus tear. Left knee, middle exterior side of meniscus. A piece is flapped out and rubbing the tibia, ouch. Concerned I may need surgery first, which of course was recommended. I did not say yes because of watching your videos. Had success in reducing pain and swelling from watching them. Very torn (no pun intended) as to what I should do. 52 yr old male, runner, flat footed, weak glutes. I know, lots to unpack here. Considering your meniscus recovery program.

I have found your videos VERY helpful!!! I have had pain in my knee, which seems like Meniscus, for about 3 weeks now.... (62 year old female, have always walked, and had been doing some walking aerobics (with a knowledgeable and safe expert's videos). I believe it is feeling better... I will continue to limit excessive bending and ease pressure on this left knee. Perhaps strengthening the backs of my legs will be necessary/helpful. (as you said, my front thighs seem to be strong!)
I was making progress lately getting more fit and losing a few pounds... so disappointing for this to happen!

are all meniscus tears share the same symptoms? Also what are the differences in symptoms between different grades of meniscus tears? Thank you so much for your answer!

This was so helpful. I’m guessing mine is a longitudinal tear in my medial meniscus. My PA was pushing surgery also didn’t tell me much at all. I’d like to know my zone. You said it wouldn’t heal but be functional with strengthening above and below. My biggest issue is inability to find consensus on treatment and prognosis. It’s making it impossible to know what to do. Thank you for your video!

My right knee meniscus folded! Extremely painful. Surgery a week later after swelling went down. Now I have severe arthritis in my right knee. I just discovered your knee healing Arthritis video. It is one injury leads to another ... due to muscles imbalance, which mine is very imbalanced after getting improper treatment for over 20 years. Latest injury is ruptured hamstring - right leg. A past PT told me my right leg is atrophied! Retired now, no extra money for PT. I do a few exercises. By the way after my meniscus surgery, my PT kicked me out of PT because I was in so much pain!!! Made no sense to me. So, I never had PT!

Think I developed a medial meniscus tear over the past month from trail running on steep hills. As I do hills every day and have for years, I am VERY quad-dominant, so this makes sense. Started doing the glute and tib ant work as recommended this week so we'll see how it goes- I'm also a Massage Therapist so this is excellent info to incorporate into my practice- thank you for your videos! I can't use crutches unfortunately as I need to work standing up.

Thank you Dr. for this great channel and informative videos. I've learned so much about knees.

Just had a bucket tear 3 weeks ago. Still some pain but what worries me is that my knee can't straighten and I walk with a limp.

Was told I needed surgery to stitch back the flap that impede my knee from straightening. I prefer the therapy route. What's your advice Doc?

Hello Dr. Excellent video. I’m living in Puerto Vallarta MX and have seen a Dr here. Had MRI and X-ray. I’m considering surgery and stem cell therapy. I’m 60 years old. The pain and stiffness has gotten better the past month. Would your meniscus video course be affective for me?
Here is the DIAGNOSTIC IMPRESSION: MRI
1 Ganglion cyst of the anterior cruciate ligament.
2 Complex tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus.
3 Tear of the root of the lateral meniscus.
4 grade lI Medial and lateral tibiofemoral chondromalacia.
5 Supra and infrapatellar tendinopathy.

I hear that the symptoms to a meniscus tear is a locking of the knee and difficulty extending. Is that true for all meniscus tears? Is it possible to have a tear without the presentation of locking and difficulty extending?

If you have a large meniscus tear, will it heal just correcting the muscle root imbalance? Or is it really necessary to spend some time in crutches to allow the meniscus to be without pressure and heal? I say this because my meniscus has been torn for two years and it is really unstable, but I cannot afford to be in crutches.
