Meniscus Root Tears of the Knee: Overview

Показать описание
I'lll review a very specific type of tear of the meniscus in the knee, a meniscal root tear (:50). I'll go over some of the anatomical differences of meniscal root tears versus a common meniscal tear, as well as highlight the difference in the way in which these tears are treated (1:40). Finally, I'll cover the rehab process that is specific to meniscal root repairs (6:48).

Thank you so much! I had a meniscus root surgery a week and a half ago and I was wondering what all I should be doing to help recovery. This video helps me to see that the recovery is going to be a slow, long process. I really appreciate the education!

I wish you would show what kind of brace is needed. I had the root repair surgery almost a week ago and left the hospital without the hinged brace because the insurance company required surgery first. I’m told I have to wait almost a month to get the hinged brace! I’m using a walker for now but have slipped into slight weight bearing a few times, hoping I haven’t hurt anything.

Do all root tears need surgery? My doctor dose not what to do surgery as I have no pain or discomfort. But the MRI shows a root tear.

Super helpful video. I'm having this surgery in a week and a 1/2.

The info in particular about why we can't weightbear after compared to the traditional repair.

Is that why my doctor told me it'd be 9-12 months before return to sports? (Bjj)

How far along in recovery can you flex under compression and load beyond 90 into deep flex? Like competitive mogul skiing, jumping off steps and landing fully squatting and compressed with body weight?
