Just thinking of doing this makes me nervous..I use a damp microfiber cloth and Qtips..if you love your reel and want it to last take your time with cleaning it, so worth it..nothing beats a clean smooth reel, priceless

I use a spray bottle of tap water after every session before going home, rather than waiting to get home after the salt crystals have already formed.

i wash mine in a combination of bleach and paint thinner

Can I just let it sit at one side to dry not under the sun?

That’s good for small baitcasters but tell that to the offshore guys in the Northeast.

Do NOT rinse your baitcaster reel or your spinning reel under a tap.
Fill a spray bottle with warm water and lightly spray the body, and wipe off the water with a microfiber cloth. Copying this demonstration will only push dirt and salt further inside the reel and into the gears.
