What you said about the Scorpion's low INT stat got me wondering: Intelligence builds are obviously the anthropocene meta. But what was the first build to effectively take advantage of that? I would love a vid about that sometime, of INT specc'd builds through time.

It would be quite interesting to see an ant tier list. There are so Many different types of ants to Pick from and Its basically the Ultimate team player Pick second only to humans.

It's not just power-creep, the devs also reduced oxygen levels in later updates. Forcing size reduction in scorpions

I think one thing to keep in mind about many seemingly "weak" builds is that they are much less likely to be nerfed or banned when a patch comes. The reason scorpions have been around so long is because they are resistant to major meta changes, if you build super powerful and "win" the game to the point where you become oppressively dominant you're likely to get the banhammer sooner or later. If you want a really long term experience without to much upset you could do worse than playing a scorpion.

i once had a scorpion as a support class for my human build. would not recommend. their lack of intelligence causes them to eat their children, and they dont have synergy with humans like cats and dogs do. however, they do provide the "center of attention" perk when in the biology class side quest :)

Maybe they're not the best in the game, but they have awesome character designs and an iconic weapon

The Scorpions were heavily nerfed with the reduced available oxygen patch, and unfortunately Devs decided to nerf them once more by adding the Claw-venom counterbalance, meaning that in order to obtain more powerful venom they should give up claw size and strenght, even then, scorpions can take down builds hundreds or thousands of times their weight if they get a good hit, and the fact that they haven't evolved more sofisticated tools besides their constant nerfs shows how resilient and balanced they truly are, capable of survive the massive expansions and bans that the devs did, they may not be the best build right now but they are absolute masters at adapting with bare minimum changes.

Scorpions are definitely one of the coolest builds. I also really like it because it is so off-meta nowadays

Scorpions can sometimes score that rare win against a human, and being able to tell stories about that one time you took down the top build makes it all worth it

I had an emperor scorpion as a pet for a few years. His name was Dwayne Johnson. He was an asshole and would always leave one cricket alive just to torment me in my sleep. The way he scurried about the enclosure always creeped me out but I miss him.

You gotta appreciate one thing about the scorpions though, they make the game more challenging.
See how in every clip of any player vs a scorpion they're forced to try and disable their weapons first before attacking? (unless they can easily one shot them)
High level PVP between different species usually involve one player trying to avoid the other's one hit KO move or damage over time effects

The fact that Scorpions are still viable, even though they were powercrept throughout the history of the game, is impresdive though!
Even if their power level is lower tiers.

Scorpions were actually what got me into this game. I just love the grappler style that the scorpion has. Didn't stop me from switching to snakes though.

Thing is as humans, we usually see threats according to their likelihood to kill us.
So any venomous enemy with stealth becomes top tier. Only rivaled by big carnivours
