Are Hippos OP?

3:49 Actually, hippos have spec’d _slightly_ into omnivory. They sometimes even spawn kill their own teammates if resources are low. Or if they’re just REALLY salty.

I'm getting a few comments saying that hippos do eat meat on occasion, which is something I looked into while writing this episode as well. Based on what I found during my research, hippos only eat meat when severely stressed or starving (insert another Darkest Dungeon reference here) and since they can't actually digest it, I think it's fair to still call them obligate herbivores.


tl;dr a healthy hippopotamus will only eat vegetation.

When I first tried the Human build, I met a Hippo player in what I thought was a non-PVP zone; the Hippo was essentially just showcasing its build for more inexperienced Human players, like myself. However, while trying to unequip my level 3 Pacifier, I accidentally dropped it - and the asshole just stole it from me. Chewing on it like that gave him any exp.

Scarred me. Definitely do not mess with Hippos.
