Sorry to have kept you waiting for this one! I had to take the opportunity to hop on a plane and see Swabie. It's been months since I've seen him. He's living with my sister and her family now. He turned 11 this year and gave us all the signs that he was too old for boatlife and just wants to lay around forever... on flat land. In this episode we tackle a few more projects in Avalon before leaving Catalina. Finish the handrails to 100%, make baggywrinkles, and add some more solar. Slowly we are installing or at least mounting all the items taking up interior space. Yup, still building but also sailing so it's not so bad. Living the life!

Thanks for watching!
Ruthie

p.s. I try and reply to as many comments as I can but we are still so so busy so please do not take it personally 💕

Much love!!!

You can also support the project and sport some of our merchandise:

a HUGE thank you to everyone that has purchased items off our wishlist. You are giving us a big step forward in the projects to come. We've never had such nice tools. You all are amazing, beautiful, wonderful people that we adore!
(Not every package has come with a gift note so if you haven't received a thank you our apologies and please feel free to message us so we can properly thank you)
AMAZON WISH LIST:

Also, thank you for watching/tolerating the ads. They really help us out financially. We can't control what ads (that typically depends on your "cookies" i.e. your internet history) but it's an easy free way to support the project and buy more parts for the boat. Thanks everybody :)

I'm so enjoying your Journey even now in 2024 as I binge and catch up, I've seen your build, makes me appreciate where you are now, knowing where it all came from. Then came your swab time, I found myself emotional, smiling and a couple tears along the way! You two stay safe, I have more to catch up on and I'm getting there! Love your videos, and both of you! extra love for Swab.

I been watching for several years now, when Garrett decided to accept help, that was a major step to sailing again and to see all those people that care about you, amazing, comment about pimping Garret out is on you what a f thought y'all would sacrifice nothing but purity of sailing, your channel will gain speed, with out sacrificing integrity

Guys, I love your channel, I look forward to your video every single week. BUT, I do not know how many people are like me... I have never sailed before. I was here for the build... so please do not leave me behind. PLEASE, tell us "idiots" who have never sailed before, what are you doing?? I will continue to watch regardless, but please do not leave us land lovers behind!!!!

Garrett and Ruth,

The Catalina mooring area is the tightest that I have ever seen. Did y'all hear your neighbors snoring. Thank y'all for sharing.
Cheers!

Fair Winds and Blue Skies.

Faithfully,

James

Wow - Miss seeing the Swab in your videos. He looks great. You will still have to show a little Swab every now and then for us.

Boat needs a handsome wood carved and sculpted bust of Ruth at the bow. Hopefully some adept, talented artist will take up the notion.

It’s so refreshing that you guys aren’t using beautiful Ruth’s body to sell your channel. Much respect and appreciation for that. You guys are quite natural, intelligent, down to earth, informative, as well as, fun. All around classy. Bravo!

While your in Avalon Bay, always keep a weather eye out for Santa Ana Winds. Word will spread quickly if they are going to come. THE BAY BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS IN THE EAST WINDS. You will have to head around the south end and into the lee of the island for as long as the last.

I have watched this young couple from episode 1 as they built every inch of this boat from the cement keel ballast up. A real adventure to see and enjoy. Hard workers. The build took seven years. Born sailors raised on the coast determined to create something "completely different." To see it finished is sucn a treat. And being all wood there are always things to tweak and add and change and complete. Always done right and on the cheap and always done confidently, surely and with a surprising level of knowledge, talent, determinarion and artistry.

Hahahaha, boats honking their horns at 5pm. I suppose after a while you tend to ignore the racket.

I made baggywrinkkes for our greater family's Doughdish ot Herreschiff 12.5 wanna be. Thick glass hull black on Child's Play with tank bark gaff main and jib .. Little dinghy has name Fun Too .. we see people smile who look at name pn CP first and the transom of dinghy. Would love day sail alongside you in Redaviva ...though you'd soon leave us in your wake..

You could actually leave the smaller sun panels hanging vertically. The sea reflects the sun right on to at least one of them most of the time, and the sails and radar doesn’t shade them.

To quote Bevis and Butthead, “Ruth is like totally hot and stuff!” Not sure if it’s her bod, or the fact that she’s really savvy with the sailing. Good job on the videos!
