A huge thank you to Spaulding Marine Center and to Heather for setting it up! This place was an amazing spot to visit. You can visit by foot too!
(Spaulding Marine Center & Store, 600 Gate 5 Rd, Sausalito, CA 94965)

If you want to get involved and volunteer at the center they are always getting their hands into some very interesting projects:

Just curious:

And here's Heather's info for sunset sails or hands-on sailing experiences:

Thanks for watching!

p.s. I try and reply to as many comments as I can but we are still so so busy so please do not take it personally 💕

Much love!!!

You can also support the project and sport some of our merchandise:

a HUGE thank you to everyone that has purchased items off our wishlist. You are giving us a big step forward in the projects to come. We've never had such nice tools. You all are amazing, beautiful, wonderful people that we adore!
(Not every package has come with a gift note so if you haven't received a thank you our apologies and please feel free to message us so we can properly thank you)
AMAZON WISH LIST:

Also, thank you for watching/tolerating the ads. They really help us out financially. We can't control what ads (that typically depends on your "cookies" i.e. your internet history) but it's an easy free way to support the project and buy more parts for the boat. Thanks everybody :)

My wife and I did a sunset cruise with Capt Heather a few years ago. It was awesome. My wife, who is also very petite, was so impressed with her. I credit Heather with getting my wife enthused about sailing, which was my ulterior motive. Now we sail a Yankee Dolphin 24 and I'm restoring a 1960 Pearson Triton (built in Sausalito) that we hope to sail to Baja and beyond in a few years! Thanks, Heather!

As an old guy with a very messed up back, Garret, when I say I feel your pain, I mean it. Last time I had to work on a sink and lie on my back all twisted up like you were, I was pretty much in the same boat. Help, no. yes. no. maybe.

You are both Bad-Asses. Your boat kicks ass big time.

Freda looks fantastic. I'm a wooden boat person here in Melbourne Australia and have 2 wooden boats of my own and as Heather was saying .. most of my learning was hands-on over the years. What Heather was talking about sounds fantastic for the young kids. Those pelicans look very much similar to a Mirror Dinghy we use here in Australia for kids and learning how to make a boat and sail it... I also have a back problem and can relate to the pain and difficulties that Garrett has. Ruth is a badass and very much a great asset to you Garrett.

The best thing about Ruth is she has been on board with building a boat from ground up and in water. Even when Garret was building and Ruth was working a job and editing videos, she stuck with the plan. Garrett is one lucky man to have her.

You join an elite group of humans who have pursued a dream and made it happen. You continue to live extraordinary lives and you will never live long enough to regret it. God Bless.

Thank for sharing the Spaulding yard. Wonderful that a place like that still exists. So many boatyards getting swallowed by short term gain for property developers and long term loss to the water front and community that created the environment that people want to live in.

My wife maintained and lived aboard Freda back in the 80's, way before the major refit.

This is the absolute most profound series I’ve ever seen.
It ought to be sold to television channels all over the world.
Astonishing photo. Everything is so cool and vintage at the same time as educational and full of happiness and initiative.
Ruth & Garret. Salt&Tar= Rediviva… New Born 🙏
Fair winds you two lovebirds

A totally groovy episode. The other wooden ships, the tour with the kids and the tour with the boat building shop, so cool. Stay safe and stay groovy.

That was as smooth a docking as you could get. Good job.
And yes we've watched Ruth transition into a pretty damn good boat wright. She's always been willing but her knowledge has gained her confidence in taking on projects of her own has made her shine.
